Miranda stared at Jack's turned head and sighed.

"Jack?" Miranda called, and the tattoo clad woman turned in her seat. Her lips were drawn, and her eyes strict. Miranda felt like she was betraying Shepard's privacy, but she felt too much for the now fragile woman.

"What, princess?" Jack growled and Miranda stepped forward. The ex-prisoner flinched, and the Cerberus queen stepped more forward.

"I'm worried for Shepard. Jack..you were there. On Horizon. With her and Grunt. What exactly happened that has made Adam, our commander, so down?" Miranda felt surprised she even mentioned Shepard's first name. It was a silly name, meant for a boy, but it fit the woman perfectly for a unknown reason.

"Alliance babe was there. Made her uneasy. Simple." Jack scoffed.

Miranda snarled. How could she handle this so lightly. How could a bitch like her even step as far as making the commander's emotions so worthless?

"Alliance babe? How about Kaidan Alenko, Shepard's old..old...LOVER? I can't believe someone like you would jeopardize-"

"What? Jeopardize what? Shepard, or your precious Lazarus project?" Jack's face was smug.

For someone who spent two years rebuilding me, you don't seem very fond at me.

Shepard, I respect what you have accomplished, but not your motives.

Miranda looked down in shame. So what? So she felt a friendship with commander. She couldn't. No matter what, Shepard was only a experiment and a weapon. A failed one if Adam now started failing because of a man.

Miranda's thoughts swirled. She herself couldn't jeopardize the mission.

"The Lazarus Project." Miranda whispered and Jack beamed with smugness and gluttony.

"S'ppose it's hard. You know, for someone to worry about a simple problem when you have a so called friend at need."

"People are disappearing! Shepard is one person, only a tool."

"Only a tool? A tool that would save the entire human and alien population. Someone who would fail doing that if they were abandoned by more than just a boy."

Jack stood up and left, smiling, leaving Miranda to soak in her shame.
