Okay so this is another story inspired by well friendship and betrayal I suppose. It compares James's friendships with Harry's ones in a sense. Pairings in the background are Harry/Hermione and Ron/Daphne. Danielle is Ron and Daphne's daughter. This is also for the entry Jacqui Briggs: write about a sense of duty.

James Sirius Potter was nervous and he didn't want his parents to know he was worried about going to Hogwarts when Teddy and Danielle were already there and perfectly happy being there. His Uncle Ron seemed to have been the only one to recognize this. So while Harry and Hermione were with his parents, Ron had come in to talk with James.

"You know if you keep hiding out in here, they'll know something is wrong," Ron said to his best friend's son.

James shrugged. "I'm a good actor."

Ron laughed a bit. "I don't think so. I saw right through you and your parents are smarter than you think. They just don't want to confront you because they feel you're outgoing enough that you'll talk when you're ready."

James snorted. He knew his mother was the brightest witch of her age at her time and even now was incredibly smart but he wished he could just talk to them. "I don't want to disappoint them. I'm not really smart…"

Ron thought about this. "I can relate somewhat but Harry will be proud of you as long as you do your best. Sure, Hermione might be a bit disappointed if you slack off in class but it doesn't mean she'll ever stop loving you. You just need to give it your best shot – Hogwarts is pretty fun if you make the right friends and you know." He smiled ruffling James's hair causing the boy to scowl a bit because his brown hair was messy enough. "If you ever have problems, you can always come to me."

James smiled at this, knowing his godfather was being completely sincere as he said these words and reached out, in a rare moment of affection hugged him. "Thanks Uncle Ron."

Ron ruffled the boy's hair. "I'll always be here for you kiddo. You're my best friend's pride you know that." He had made a silent promise to Harry and to himself that he'd always be there for his best friend and his family no matter what happened next. Pettigrew had caused Harry pain but Ron would make anyone who even harmed a hair on James's head pay. He may not be his son but he was as good as.
