Distractions

Sour citrus mixed with the bitter aroma of coffee. He immediately knew what this meant.

Looking up from his work, Fumus sighed. "Elux, I know you're there."

Giggling, the god appeared before him, plopping onto the chair adjacent from his desk.

"Hey, Fumus! Whatcha working on?" They lazily spread themselves out in the chair, not actually showing any interest in what his answer may be.

He didn't answer, he just kept working. Elux showing up while he was doing his work wasn't necessarily a new thing. In fact, it happened quite often. Despite the frequency of Elux's visits, it wasn't an occurrence he could say he enjoyed.

After a moment of silence, Fumus spoke up. "Don't you have work to do, Elux? How do you have time to come here?"

"I just give it all to Sol. She likes to be kept busy," Elux said, shifting in the chair. Their feet were now on to and their head on the bottom. "And besides," they continued, "It's fun to see you struggle with your work!"

"Talk about a sadist…" he muttered. "Anyways, if you don't have anything better to do, could you hand me another pack of cigarettes?"

Floating out of their seat, Elux grabbed a pack of cigarettes. "You mean this one?" they asked, holding it up in their hand.

"Yeah. Could you bring it to me?" Fumus motioned towards his desk with his hand.

"Over here? As in…over here?" Instead of moving closer to the desk, they moved away, towards the door. "You want me to bring it to the trash disposal?"

"What? No, I said to me."

"Ah, Fumus," Elux grinned, "Isn't the trash disposal the same thing?"

Fumus paused, then got out of his seat. "Elux, if you bring it to the trash, I'll end you." He threatened, venom laced in his voice.

"Eh? You're not going to react to me calling you trash? How disappointing." They feigned a sigh, before defaulting back to a grin. "Well, see you later!" With that they opened the door and ran off, taking Fumus' cigarettes with them.

Fumus groaned, before grabbing his coat and chasing after them. "Elux, I swear, if you don't come back with my cigarettes, I'll kill you!"
