A / N : Another drabble for the "food" prompt on xoxLewrahxox's Forum.
Prompt: Food. This is open to interpretation. The only requirement is that your 100-word drabble feature some reference to food or eating. Perhaps this would be the time to examine the eating habits of our favorite characters. Voldemort's favorite snack, anybody?
Okay, so it's not exactly Voldemort's favourite snack . . . but it was the best I could do for you. Because really, Voldy feeds on power. Ahem. ;)
Six year old Tom Riddle lies on dusty floorboards. Chairs scrape and spoons clang, somewhere beneath him. The rest of the orphanage is at dinner.
Prize and prey are balled in a brass bed pan. His to command.
"Tighter," he hisses.
Gleaming coils convulse, and the rodent squeaks.
"Tighter."
A forked tongue flickers, tasting the air.
"Not yet . . ."
The snake seethes. Tom smiles.
"Wait. Wait . . ."
He can almost taste the snake's venom himself, as it constricts around the mouse's throat.
His stomach rumbles.
"Strike."
