Is Daddy Right?

"I am so excited, I can't believe we finally get to find out if it's a boy or girl!" Jackie said sounding completely overjoyed.

"I'm excited too." Nick responded with a huge smile.

"Honey, one of my shoes is hiding in the back of the closet, would you find it for me please?" Jackie asked.

He laughed and began digging for her shoe.

"Here you go." He told her as he handed her the shoe.

"Thanks."

"Ready?" Nick asked her once she had her shoe one.

"Yes!" She said excitedly.

They got to the clinic, and once they were called back Jackie's vitals and everything were taken and were great, then came time for the fun part.

"Alright, what do you guys think? Boy or girl?" Doctor Wilson asked.

"Girl all the way." Nick said confidently.

"Mom, what do you say?" She asked Jackie.

"I'm not sure, I can see it going either way." Jackie answered.

"Alright, let's see if daddy is right, or completely crazy." Dr. Wilson said as she looked at Nick with a smile.

Nick laughed.

"No matter what it is, daddy is still completely crazy." Jackie said with a grin as she gave Nick's hand a playful squeeze.

He laughed and squeezed her hand back.

"There is the baby's head, the heartbeat sounds good, everything looks great, now let's get down to the fun part." Dr. Wilson said as she moved the ultrasound machine lower.

"Daddy is spot on, it is a girl, congratulations."

Nick's smile spread ear to ear.

"I told you so." He said to Jackie playfully.

She laughed.

"Alright, so you've been right about one thing in how many years of marriage and you want tons of credit?" She replied.

He laughed.

Even the doctor laughed at that.

"Does she have a name yet?" Doctor Wilson asked the happy couple.

"Nora, no middle yet though." Jackie responded.

"That's pretty. Are you going to spell it with or without the H on the end? Sorry, I'm nosy." Doctor Wilson asked.

With most couples she wouldn't get so personal but she'd been Jackie's doctor a long time, Nick and Jackie were one of her favorite couples, and Jackie didn't seem to mind.

Nick looked at Jackie, he hadn't given much thought to the spelling question, which is odd considering they had Nora picked out for Boone, had he been a girl. Jackie though apparently had thought about it because she didn't miss a beat with her answer.

"Without." She replied, and then she looked at Nick as if she just figured out that they hadn't discussed this.

"Right?" She asked him.

"If that's how you want to spell it I'm fine with that." He assured her.

"I think it is prettier that way, plus it's one less letter for her to have to write when she gets to school."

He laughed, the teaching side of Jackie never stayed hidden for long.

"That's fine, I like it spelled that way." He repeated.

"Then it's settled, Nora with no H." Jackie proclaimed.

"That's pretty, congratulations."

"Thank you." The couple said in unison.

"Do you have any more questions?" Dr. Wilson asked.

"Are you sure it's a girl?" Jackie asked jokingly.

"Did you want a boy?" Dr. Wilson asked with a laugh.

"No, it didn't matter at all, but I'm not sure how I feel about Nick being right." She said.

After that all three of them burst out laughing.

"Sorry Jackie, Nick nailed this one." Her doctor responded with a smile.

"You should be used to me being right by now dear." Nick told her teasingly.

"Oh hush." She replied as she playfully smacked his arm.

After one more good laugh the overjoyed couple left the clinic, although Jackie had a feeling she'd be hearing about how Nick was right for a long time but she didn't really mind!

The End!
