She crouched, with sheer terror pulsing through her veins. This couldn't be happening. Not to him. Not to them. Suddenly, she felt numb. Emotionless, like a doll that got thrown away after the child that once held her got a better, more precious toy. She was not the best or the strongest dingo, but she put up one hell of a fight. At least he never complained. Being good enough to him meant being good enough to herself too. She was good enough. So then, where did she take the wrong turn? No, she was not good enough. She lied to herself, trying desperately to believe those empty lies, because she had been told to believe them. Lag, Sylvette, Connor, Aria, all of them lied. And in that moment, she thanked them for lying to maintain her mental health. But now, she might rethink her sanity in general. She opened her mouth to scream, to yell, to convince him to snap out of it, to come back. But all she managed to do was stare blankly at the dark figure.

- Staring isn't polite, didn't they teach you that, Maka girl?

Hearing his voice, with that accent of lies and malice made her tears come out, blurring her sight, warming her cheeks.

- Now, I'll ask ya to move till I count till 10. If ya don't move, I'll shoot you. That sounds more than fair, don't ya think, Maka?

9…8…7…6…5…

He counted slowly, like the situation amused him. Strangely, his voice echoed through her mind, like a long lost lullaby. More tears came out. Why? Why him?

2..1!

Not stopping even to think, he took out his gun.

- Too bad, Maka Girl. Ya could have lived. Ya know I have ta shoot ya now.

He smiled sadistically, his smile just a crooked, evil retrace of his former grin.

- Reverse makes the rules, I just follow them. Now think. The guy you're looking for, your precious master, was he worth this?

He didn't get a response. Not willing to wait, after all, he was a Marauder, and he had the privilege of shooting Letter Bees and their dingoes as much as he wanted. Whispering a last goodbye to her, he roared.

- Shindan loaded! Aotoge!
