My first Metroid story, and my tenth to boot! To celebrate, I'm... not gonna do anything, actually. Well, since there are only like, 545 stories in the Metroid section, so I'm not expecting reviews for a bit. But, that's okay!

Well, enjoy my tenth story!

Samus' POV

Running... running... panting... gasping...

That's what was happening now. There had been something wrong. Ridley was never this good. He nearly destroyed my suit, let alone myself.

It was as if he was invincible. My shots did no good. My missles bounced right off him. And he only absorbs my Phazon blasts!

Not good. I was losing my breath, if you hadn't already realized it. I was in a long hallway. A long cooridor. There were dead Space Pirate bodies all over the floor, some lying on thier stomachs or backs on the floors, some leaning against the walls, heads drooped; all of them, covered, or lying in, blood. Space Pirate blood. I couldn't see what color it was, because not only was I being chased, I had shot the lights out by accident.

I had finally reached the door that led to the landing spot, where my ship was waiting. Thankfully, my blaster was still functional, even though most of the other parts of it were gone from it. It was only the red chest part, one of the two legs, and the blaster. Some how, thankfully, it still worked. I shot the door, and it opened as soon as I.

Good. I thought. I never wanted to wait around for it to actually respond. I made my way quickly outside to my orange ship. I stepped on the elevator and it immidiately shot up into the ship. As quick as I could, I punch in the coordinates for another planet nearby. The ship's engins started flaring, and I and the ship took off.

I was really glad. Another minute in that awful place would've meant instant death. I sighed in relief, and took one last look at the now shrinking planet.

My heart skipped a beat.

From what I could see, the Space Pirate flagship was hot on my tail, its cannons charging. I gulped, then put the engins into overdrive. I blasted right into the unknown, Ridley's cannons firing right at the last second.

Thankfully, I managed to escape.

My ship stopped overdriving and slowed to a stop. I had put in the coordinations to the nearest planet, but I never managed to make it. I was in complete space darkness, nothing except me and the stars. If Ridley warped here, I have no idea what would happen. That wouldn't be goo-

...Oh, no. No. No no no no. He's here.

The flagship came out of the worm hole, it's cannons out, aiming and charging. I looked at the ship's power meter. There was only enough power for it to either speed off, but not get very far, or to fire a single shot.

Either way, I was history. But I still had to try. Thinking that if I won't get very far with just a small burst of speed, I raised the cannons on my ship. I took careful aim at Ridley's flagship, let the cannon charge up a bit, and fired before the ship did.

What happened next must've been a miracle. A chain reaction.

The shot hit off a gas tank, which made an explosion on the ship. The explosion covered the cannons, which made them explode. The cannons, now malfunctioning, started turning around and around and around until eventually pointing down at Ridley's ship and firing. This resulted in the entireship going up into flames. The ship blew up and the piece floated in space.

I could see Ridley, swimming in the air, trying to get away from a flaming ship piece, all the while shaking his fist at me and yelling, "CURSE YOU, SMAUS!!"

Wow. See how ironic things get? I never expected that to happen.

Now I gotta figure out how to get to the nearest planet.

...Oh, yeah! There's a spare power tank in the back. Whoops!
