Disclaimer: I own nothing familiar.
Continued scene from Book of Secrets from Riley's point of view.
The way it probably happened
"Ben, if it was you trying to convince me, you would have less evidence, and I would already believe you by now," I said earnestly.
Ben still doesn't say anything. He's thinking.
"I have to talk to Sadusky," he says. He's not looking at me.
Abigail nods. "He's high enough on the FBI food chain to know if the Book exists."
I expected nothing less from her. She would only have gone along with my idea if Ben had. And Ben obviously hadn't.
Even Patrick, who had seemed ready to go along with my idea, was not arguing with his son. He was thinking.
Ben looked at his dad as if he was trying to convince him of something telepathically.
And then Patrick nodded. "Sadusky would know."
What kind of a fool was I to think that Ben trusted me that much?
