A/N Howdy! This is my first Cold Case fic, so I hope you like it. It's something I've had on my computer for two years and nothing has really come of it, so I thought I would post it and see what people think. Thanks for reading!

She got on the bus. Asked for a ticket to her destination. Got a few stares like usual – was it her hair today, or was it what she had chosen to wear, mistakenly thinking it suited her? She hadn't had time to choose anything fancy (or clean for that matter), she just plucked the first thing she found from the laundry basket and threw it on. Her head was so full she barely had room to remember her own name, let alone remember to do the laundry.

She didn't care anyhow... Someone loved her, loved the way she looked.

She moved towards the back of the bus, where the last available seats were, and sat down. Got a look from the old woman in the seat next to her – did she smell today? Sure, she hadn't had time for a shower but she made sure she put on plenty of deodorant. Her head was so full she was lucky she remembered before she dashed out of the house like a cyclone.

She didn't care anyhow... Someone loved her, loved the way she smelt.

When she got to her stop, she thanked the driver before getting off. Smiled too, even though she was normally self-conscious about her teeth, and not always with good reason. But today she had beamed a big toothy grin at the man before her messed up head even realized.

She didn't care anyhow... Someone loved her, loved her smile.

She walked briskly the rest of the way. The shirt she was wearing wasn't the most flattering. She eats when she's happy, and she had been very, very happy recently. She felt fat, but wouldn't let her full-to-bursting head take any notice of it. 'Embrace your curves' she was always being told in magazines. Maybe now she would. For the moment though, she still felt fat.

She didn't care anyhow... Someone loved her, loved her body.

As she walked into the building, she realized that for the first time, she would rather be anywhere but there. She knew she would find focusing on one task near impossible today, but there wasn't anything she could do about it. As much as she loved her job, there was something back at home that she loved much, much more...

... Someone who loved her.
