"Angie, come on Angie I know you home, answer the goddamn door. Its fucking freezing out here. Angie!" Chris yelled as he banged on the door to her suburban home. "Angie!"
The door swung open to an infuriated young psychology teacher. "Chris, now isn't the time" she said angrily. "Its 3am, people are trying to sleep in this neighbourhood. Do you want to get arrested?"
"Angie let me in"
"No Chris, go home. I don't want to see you"
"I'm not going home Angie. I want to talk to you and I won't leave until you allow me to do so."
She sighed heavily and moved away from the door, allowing the teenager to enter her house. A cold gust of air seemed to follow in after him. She crossed her arms and sat down on the couch closest to her. "What do you want Chris?"
The boy looked around the room before looking back towards her. Slowly he reacher into his coat pocket and pulled out a small black and white photo. "I need you to explain this to me Angie" he said softly as he handed it to her.
Stony eyed, the woman reached out for the piece of paper he held. She quickly glanced at the photo before looking back at Chris. Tears filled her eyes as she spoke to him. "How" she began. "Where did you find this?"
"Hidden in with those photos of you and Merve. I found it that day I broke in. That was a difficult day for the two of us and things haven't quite been ok since then. You won't see me, you won't answer my calls. I feel like I'm dying. And now this photo…Is it really what it is"
Angie
reached out to wipe a stray tear away from her eye. "Of course its
fucking what it is" she said as she bent her head down into her lap
and began to cry. "It's a fucking ultra-sound picture"
"And
is it…"
"Yours? Of course it is! I haven't been with anyone else except you since Merve. I didn't want you to know Chris, you're still too young. That's why I didn't want to see you. That's why I don't want to see you."
Chris moved to sit on the same couch and wrapped his arms around her as he soothed her crying. "You should be happy" he told her calmly. "We're having a baby"
Angela turned to stone in his arms at those words. She shifted away from him as she loosened his grasp and escaped. "No Chris. I'm not keeping it…"
