It was a bright sunny day on the island of Sodor. The birds sang sweetly and the sun shone brightly. All of the engines were very happy; but Thomas was especially happy because he had got word that his sister Anna, was to be arriving on the island and he was to meet her. He was finally going to see his sister again for the first time in a long time! He could hardly contain his excitement. All day he had been telling his friends about his sister and his adventures with her during his early life. Some of the friends were envious of him; "I wish I had a sister like that," Henry said sadly when Thomas told him about her, and others were jealous; "She must be full of herself," remarked James and Gordon. But Thomas wasn't even noticing; he was too eager. When her boat arrived, Thomas could hardly keep his voice down as Cranky lowered her to the rails. "Anna!" he cried. "I haven't seen you for years!" And the two of them blew their whistles loud, long and happily. "Come Anna," Thomas said. "I will show you the island." Shyly and obediently Anna followed him away from the docks.
