The Lost Experiment
*A Max Ride fanfic*
-AthenaFangGranger26-
What would happen if none of the Angel Experiment happened, and instead the Flock discovered a new experiment with more powers than they and a human family. And what will happen when Fang warms up to this new girl and actually gets to know her? A slight twist on the Angel Experiment.
Fang POV
Fang stood on the balcony of the E house, he was readying for a fly. But, before he did, he turned to observe the Flock. He cracked a half smile as he watched Gazzy and Iggy play Wii Tennis. The funny part was Iggy was beating the Gasman, and Iggy's blind. Angel, our six year old telapath, and Nudge cheered the boys on. Max, their leader, was nowhere to be found.
Fang turned and unfurled his wings and took off. He always enjoyed flying, with his long black hair trailing behind him. He seemed to be the only one in the sky, unless Max was out flying by herself. Fang dove and rolled, enjoying the free feeling of flying. He pushed his dark wings down and back up again, staying aloft. Suddenly, a dark shape shot past him. He spun to watch it. The shape dove straight toward their home, but didn't make it, crash landing on the cliff top. Max wouldn't crash, Fang thought, so that can't be her. He angled his wings and dove to the cliff top himself.
Libra POV
"Ow," I muttered, sitting up after crashing into the grass.
My palms were now riddled with scratches. My short chestnut hair was ruffled and windswept. The tunic I wore was torn and grass stained.
"Shoot," I crawled to my knees and sat at the cliff side. I stared at how far it was to the bottom.
A sudden voice jolted me from my thoughts, "Hey, who're you?" It was the black haired wing-boy I'd flown past earlier. He clearly was on his guard, his fists were clenched. His dark bottomless eyes were wary and cold. He was relatively good looking, if it weren't for the dirt caked skin and unruly dark hair.
"I don't know." I replied softly, looking at my bare feet.
"Do you have a name?" the boy asked, crouching beside me.
"L-l-Libra." I squeaked.
"Nice to meet you, Libra. I'm Fang. Are you a mutant?" the boy asked.
I was taken aback, had he just asked if I was a mutant? I wasn't was I? I shook my head at Fang and his face became thoughtful.
"Can you do anything humans can't?" Fang questioned, he finally sat next to me.
"Yes," I whispered," I can fly, without wings. I can make fire, without wood. I can call water to me, without a pond or river. I can silence the Shadows, but the sun remains. I can make rocks move, without touching them. Can you do that too?" I hoped desperately that he'd nod.
Fang's face was ashen, and he shook his head. His dark eyes searched my silver ones. He pushed a strand of his hair out of his face and sighed.
"Libra, where did you come from?" he whispered.
I thought for a minute and then told him about the people in lab coats, the cages, the painful tests. Through all this Fang looked more and more worried.
"How did you get out?" Fang asked, his voice cracked.
"I pretended I was dead, so many others were dying so it got to the point where they didn't even check pulses. So, when they wheeled me to rot outside, I scared them by moving. They were too shocked to stop me," I paused to see Fang's reaction. His face had become impassive,"They sent Erasers afterward but, I think I lost them at the Grand Canyon. I wasn't at the lab place my whole life. I have a human mom and dad, and a little brother. I even had friends."
Fang held up his hand, asking for silence. He seemed lost in thought. I wanted to ask what was wrong, but Fang scared me a bit. I didn't want him angry at me.
"Come on." he said, suddenly standing.
He held his hand out to me and I tentatively took it. He let out his dark wings and told me to get ready to fly, however I did that. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.
"I'm no good at steering, so can I have some help?" I felt bad for asking for assistance with my own ability.
"Just hang on to my hand," Fang smiled and I couldn't help but smile too," it's as simple as that."
So as Fang rose, I called upon the winds asking them to propel me up. I kept the winds steady enough to not hinder Fang's flying. Then I saw we were flying toward a house, I started to backpedal. I didn't want any more people to know about me, it was bad enought Fang knew about me. But, Fang wouldn't let me go. I tried to struggle from his hand, but his grip was too strong. I gave up the fight and let him pull me toward the house.
