Sesshomaru watched as his beautiful mate feed their son. He had a son.

Rin was his daughter, even without the blood tie, as was Shippo his pup, even if he would get defensive and correct him with "kit". It had been four years since the battle against Naraku. In that time Rin stayed the last three with Inuyasha as her guardian to train under the old miko and socialize with other humans. She was now of age, 15 years old and very mature.

Sesshomaru and Kagome visited every month, but this would be her first time back at the West in three years. From what Sesshomaru knew, Rin had many suiters but Inuyasha was doing his job of scaring them off. How was it possible he was just starting his life with his son while he was getting ready to let go of another pup?

The silver haired lord noticed some changes in his mate as well. Kagome's hair was longer now, it's blue highlights were visible in the moon light. She gave up on bangs a couple years ago and grew them out after trying to cut them on her own for so long. While it was messy from waking up from a dead sleep, she still looked perfect to him. Her face was tired but happy. Kagome's half open eyes watched their son drink greedily from her breast with a smile on her face. He almost felt jealous with how much love she showed for the pup.

The Western Lord turned towards the balcony, by the look of the stars and moon it would be daybreak in a couple hours. He didn't need as much sleep as a human did but still wished he had more. The last time he has a full six hours of sleep was almost six months ago. Kagome's pregnancy was rough, and he didn't rest much but with the new pup it was going to get worse.

A small burp was the sign he needed to know his son had his fill of milk for the time being. Sesshomaru reached over to lay the pup back in his bassinet before his mate got up. Kagome smiled at his thoughtfulness and handed the pup over.

"Sesshomaru?" Her sweet voice called out to him, quite enough to not wake the pup.

"Hn." Was all he said.

"We need to come up with a name for him. We can't just call him pup or son"

As Sesshomaru laid the pup down he looked at him. The small patch of silver hair on top with a blue crescent moon on his forehead. This little pup was the first pup born from the Crescent Moon Clan that did not have golden eyes. His eyes were blue like his Mother's.

He had a strong aura, they didn't know what powers he'd have but it was clear he'd either be a great pup or make his long life seem even longer, however; the Western Lord knew his son would be great for no one would dare challenge him, Lord Sesshomaru of the Western Lands.

"Hideyoshi." He whispered.

Kagome smiled at the name. "Hideyoshi. Excellent, outstanding, and respectable. Sounds perfect for him." She waited for her mate to join her in bed before cuddling up with him once again.

"You did well, Mate." Sesshomaru said as he kissed her hair line. He watched her breathing even out, she was tired but always got up right away to be there for their pup. Sesshomaru had offered to hire a wet nurse but Kagome was adamant about doing it the old-fashioned way. She said it was all part of the package, waking up at all hours of the night and she was going to enjoy it while it lasts since they grow so fast.

It's going to be a long day tomorrow. Shippo was coming back from Kit School, Rin from the village with Inuyasha and Kaede. Plus, his mother, step father, and half brother would be here later that night. While the pup wasn't as bad as Inuyasha, he was quite annoying.

The Daiyokai Lord closed his eyes and let sleep claim him before their pup woke up, yet again.

Hideyoshi He thought one last time before sleep took him.

The Western mated couple were woken up by two bodies rushing into their bedroom. Instead of rushing to see their parents, they went over to look at the little pup who was now up and very scared. The crying started instantly, but this was a different cry then Sesshomaru had ever heard, this cry was a pup calling for his father or mother for help.

Sesshomaru's beast came forward growling at Rin and Shippo grabbing the pup and handing him to his mate. Kagome took Hideyoshi and started telling her son it would be okay. Sesshomaru didn't let the two older children near the pup until he stopped crying completely.

Once he was awake and content he whined in inu asking for his Daddy to pick him up. When Sesshomaru took the pup in his arms he barked back telling their son these two are pack siblings and would not harm him.

"Sorry, we didn't mean to frighten him." Shippo spoke, clearly shamed by his actions. They really didn't mean to scare the little guy. They were just excited to see him. They already missed a whole day of his life!

"It is fine. He will not be able to recognize anyone who is not a full blood pack member for another month or so." The Lord tried to explain it to the kit, so he understood he wasn't in trouble nor was he mad. It was instinct to protect his pack.

Kagome stood next to Sesshomaru before speaking to the kids "Rin! Shippo! I'm so glad to see you. Meet your little brother, Hideyoshi."

"Hideyoshi, hello! Rin is Ri- I mean I am your sister."

"Hey Hideyoshi, I'm Shippo, your big brother. When your older I'll teach you some cool tricks."

At that comment Kagome and Sesshomaru shared a look to make sure they kept an eye on them. They we not ready to handle another trouble maker already.

"Would you two like to hold him?" Kagome asked them.

Both nodded before sitting on their parent's futon. Rin went first, Sesshomaru stood very close, ready to respond to anything that could happen in Rin's arms. Kagome couldn't help but giggle at him. When it was Shippo's turn he let some of his aura rise so the pup would start to recognize him. Hideyoshi brought his up as well. Probably to show Shippo who he is as well.

Shippo had changed a lot in the time away, he looked about 19 in human years but gained another tail in such a short amount of time. He was also top of his class at kit school and loved every minute of it. Sesshomaru noticed he'd still stick close to the miko when he was home, hugged her often. Part of the schooling was he had to stay there and only visit at most every three months. It was to keep them dependent on their own skills and not get lost in their pack. Even for their age, Sesshomaru could tell it was hard on both the kit and his mate.

Sesshomaru could smell urine so he picked up his son and moved to change him.

"Um Sess? Do you want me to do that? You've never changed him before." Kagome nervously offered.

"Mate, do you think This One is incapable of caring for his own pup?"

How dare she. He thought as he held his son.

"No, not at all it's just there are things you need to watch… with boys." She waved her hands in surrender.

"This Sesshomaru can handle it." Was his only response as he took their pup to the nursery. She thinks this one a fool. How hard can it be?

He took off the mini kimono and looked at the cloth covering Hideyoshi. He took that off next, before grabbing a wet cloth to clean his pup. After he was done cleaning he reached for the new cloth. Thinking how his mate was silly to have any worries. Right when he got the cloth under his son's bottom it happened. Pee came shooting out at him, running from his chest down his royal kimono. If Sesshomaru were shorter it would have hit his face. He looked back to his son.

"Did you just mark your Father?" He growled out.

Kagome saw what happened from the door way. She laughed, harder then she had in a while. Her mate turned towards her before picking up Hideyoshi, completely bare. He held the pup facing out away from him and as far away as possible. The little white tail with a dark blue tip was wagging, clearly happy over what happened.

"Take him." Sesshomaru demanded as he left to go bathe. He stopped when he heard Kagome's voice.

"That was really funny. I told your Father he should wait till I could help him. I really hope you don't take after his know it all attitude." Kagome laughed the whole time she spoke.

Sesshomaru growled again. His mate and son were against him. At least he had Little Rin. Shippo would of course laugh at Sesshomaru's misfortune.

"Lord Sesshomaru?" Rin's sweet voice called out.

"Hn." He turned to look at her.

"Are you o-" She stopped when she saw the pee running down his chest. A small giggle escaped before she quickly covered her mouth with her hands. She was shaking from the attempt to keep her amusement hidden.

Sesshomaru glared down at his little girl (who wasn't so little any more). She abandoned him too. With that he turned to make his way to the springs. How was it that in one day he went from being the scariest being in the land to the laughing stalk of the entire castle.

Pups. His beast added as a reason.

Indeed.

After his bath Sesshomaru spent a good two hours beating on Inuyasha after laughing at "the incident" earlier that morning. Once word got out not to mess with the Lord things starting to quiet down. Or so he thought…

Everyone was sitting around the table for lunch when the doors opened.

"Where's my little grandpup?" Kimiko questioned as she glided into the dining hall with her mate following her. A few minutes later came the headache.

"Sessy-Wessy!" Cried a 5-year-old brown haired inu pup. He rushed towards his older brother and started pulling on his tail. Sesshomaru growled in warning at him but the little one didn't care.

"Son, leave your brother alone." The Southern Lord called after him. Sesshomaru nodded his head in thanks as his mother was holding his son. While he'd normally respond "half-brother" he knew it would only hurt his Mother and youngest brother.

"He is perfect. What is this little angel's name?" Kimiko whispered in a blissful daze known as baby love.

"Hideyoshi" Kagome answered with a smile.

"Strong name." Osamu added.

Sesshomaru was having a hard time remembering why he disliked the demon. Pride wouldn't allow him to admit it though. He did a good job at keeping his son away from Sesshomaru.

"Strong peer too" Inuyasha laughed out before he was thrown into the wall. Before anyone could ask a single question, the boys were at it again.

Inuyasha pulled out his sword as Sesshomaru slashed at him with his claws. The dinning room wall was destroyed by the younger brother's fall but what really pissed off Kagome was their family painting she had done lay on the ground in ruins.

Slowly standing up she walked over to both males before sending a blast of her power. While Sesshomaru stayed on his feet, Inuyasha hit the ground.

Kimiko couldn't help but laugh. "I see lack of sleep is effecting you, Son."

If he was fully rested and wasn't on edge from the time Kagome hit full term to today he wouldn't be as easy to upset. Normally her son wouldn't have jumped to the little bait Inuyasha gave him but from what Kagome told her, the pregnancy was hard on them. She hoped being here would give them a chance to rest a bit.

"What did you mean Yassy?"

Inuyasha turned towards Sesshomaru's half-brother.

"Oi! Don't call me that kid and he peed on your big brother."

Osamu and Kimiko broke down laughing.

"He did it to me too, Sesshomaru. Girls are nicer to change but your Mother tried to warn me. I was so adamite I could handle it that I tried anyways." The Southern Lord offered his own experience, trying to let Sesshomaru know it was a simple mistake.

"Ew… You mean you let that little ball of mush over there mark you?" The Southern pup asked while he pointed towards Hideyoshi.

Sesshomaru didn't even answer before he left to go kill something.

As Sesshomaru headed outside to transform he walked past Akio. The head guard moved to the side with his demon speed and lowered his head to keep himself alive. Whatever pissed their lord off he did not want to be involved. As he was walking past the dinning room Rin came out.

Everything stopped for the head guard. Standing before him was a beautiful woman. Her dark hair was put up in flowers while her kimono also had flowers on it. She came up to his chest in height. She was of smaller frame but perfect to him. His beast came out when he smelled her. It reminded him of someone…

Rin. Akio's beast figured out.

Completely shocked, Akio stood there just watching her. How could this woman be the same little girl he protected since she came to the West? Her small giggle brought him back to what he was doing.

"I'm sorry, Rin-san. May I walk you through the gardens?" It was a bold question, it could end his life, but he had to try.

While Rin worked hard to keep her face neutral she couldn't help but show her shock as he offered to take her on a walk, alone. The guard she always found attractive, respected how much her Lord respected him and that was no easy feat.

She agreed to his offer and lead the way. The night was cool but having him nearby was nice. They spoke of what happened within the past few years while they were apart. When she spoke of the suitors Inuyasha has been chasing away Akio growled before he could stop it.

"I'm sorry, I am unsure of what came over me." He tried to sooth any stress he may have caused her.

"It's okay… I um, well I'm not going to accept any of them." Rin whispered. It was clear something was starting between the two, but no one was going to speak about it past this for the night. It was time to get Rin back to her rooms before the Western Lord came back from hunting.

Sesshomaru really needed sleep. Maybe he'd get his Mother to watch the pup for a bit so him and Kagome could finally sleep for a full two hours. He'd find out soon enough.

Before he went to bed he headed to the kitchens to give the meat he caught while hunting. What he didn't prepare for was the gossip he heard while his aura was hidden.

"Can you believe little Rin-san and Akio-san were alone in the gardens tonight?"

Sesshomaru froze. His daughter was alone with Akio tonight? While it wasn't that they were together that bothered him, it was the fact that she was no longer a little girl with his head solider. It was an adult male alone with his newly of age daughter.

He'd kill him. As much as he hated the idea of finding someone new to replace Akio who he trusted. However, Rin came first. Letting lose a powerful blast of his aura to warn all to keep their space from him now. The Lord handed over his kills before heading towards his "friend."

Kagome felt his power, he wasn't thinking clearly as she heard his thoughts, but they were jumbled between the half mental block he had up and his beast trying to take over.

Something about "Akio will die… Rin is first" It only took her a moment to figure it out.

"Oh shit." Kagome said before rushing to grab a rob and pull Rin to where the two strong males were about to meet up. Rin was the only chance she had to get Akio out alive while she tried to calm Sesshomaru's beast.

Kimiko rushed in and took Hideyoshi, so the girls could hopefully stop the bloodshed.

Akio waited for his Lord on the training grounds. He knew he crossed a line when he asked his Lord's daughter to join him on a night walk. His beast was interested, and he didn't fight hard enough to stop himself. While he knew he'd be killed for this, Sesshomaru was overly protective of her. He always has and with her being of age it would only intensify.

Sesshomaru was glad Akio picked a spot so far away from the others in the castle. He did not need them to witness what was about to happen. If Akio took his death well the livid father may use his sword of life to bring him back. The rage running through his veins caused his beast to come to the surface.

When Sesshomaru made it to the training grounds Akio was already on his knees, bowed down, ready to accept whatever the lord had planned for him. It helped sooth his anger a bit that his old friend and most trusted solder was ready and willing to take whatever punishment he had coming. It was a good start but not enough to save his life.

"Sesshomaru-sama." Akio spoke with respect. His voice was solid, hiding any fear he may have.

"You dared come near This Sesshomaru's pup?" Sesshomaru's beast growled out while is burning crimson eyes stared down at the demon in front of him. Part of the lord knew it was nothing but the father part of him couldn't handle the thought of someone taking his little girl.

"I did not realize she was Rin-san at first. She has changed a great deal, grown into a beautiful woman in the years she has been away. While I may have gone about this the wrong way… we both know a beast won't let a potential mate go without a fight." The soldier lifted his head for the first time showing his red eyes.

"You wish to fight This One?!" Sesshomaru roared.

"I only wish for a chance to prove myself a worthy mate to Rin-san" Anything else he may have wanted to say was quickly cut off by the Western Lord charging forward and ripping through his chest to grip his beating heart.

"One move and This One will end you." Sesshomaru's cold tone whispered to him.

Akio was shocked, trying to keep his breaths slow. He never had a chance to defend himself before his lord had won the fight. The grip on his heart was starting to tighten, Akio knew he didn't have much time left.
