Seeing through the cracks
Ch 1: Sam hears a song he hasn't heard in a while.
The first time, you're driving along on a nice, normal day, listening to a nice, normal radio station, humming along to the music. A song which you feel you ought to know comes on, but before it can get any further than a couple of bars, the radio goes silent. It takes a moment to realise that it's Sam who turned it off; yet another to glance over at him and see that something isn't quite right. Focusing on the driving, because it's busy in town, you pull over into a quieter side road, and then are able to turn your attention to Sam.
You see him with his face buried in his hands and he's gone so pale and he's shaking and you know it's not because he's crying but because he's trying not to. And you know you haven't known him for the longest time, but you never realised before that Sam is possibly more messed up than you are.
You don't know what to do so you put your hand on his shoulder and stroke it and say stupid things like "it's alright" and "you're okay" and you're so relieved when he looks at you and smiles and covers your hand with his.
You stay like that for another minute until you ask him if he still wants to go shopping and he says hell yes, because he wants to be able to eat tonight. So you carry on your day and even if you can't completely shake off the memory of those few minutes in the car you push it to the back of your mind because it's obvious Sam doesn't want to talk about it yet.

When you ask him about it later, his eyes get a faraway look and he tells you his brother always loved Led Zeppelin. And you can understand that, so you don't press, even though you don't think that that's the whole story.
AN - If you have any ideas about other ways Sam has been affected by his life as a hunter, please comment because I'm not entirely sure how to continue... I've got a couple of ideas, and I mean to do several chapters in a similar format. Thanks for reading! :)
