Hi there anyone who reads this! I'm MikieJoe and this is my second fanfic. Hopefully it isn't a disaster. I'm Posting the first chapter today and 1 tomorrow. This story takes place post 10 anniversary so here it goes...
Updated 26/05/2015: I am too embarrassed of these old chapters not to change them.
The calm before a storm is a rather cliché phrase to describe the feeling of content one experiences before that contentment is utterly destroyed. For some it is easily formed, because of a trusting and hopeful nature, for others it takes months, or even years to develop. People's personalities are distinctly difference, this fact will always be true in our time. There is only one thing that can change all facts, be it those that have occurred, those that are occurring and those that will occur. This unimaginable force is chaos. The Ancient Egyptians knew of this wisdom and devoted themselves to their Gods to keep the chaos at bay. This included the God of Chaos, Seth, who needed worship to satisfy his need for chaos. In chaos, events change too quickly, it was in chaos that Osiris was killed, likewise it was in chaos that the destructive power of the Nazi's, the Facists and the USSR all emerged. Through the harnessing of chaos, one can change everything, one can even change the past. Through the changing of the past the world as we know it can be eternally altered. But such things, are not yet proven.
In the calm directly after, and also before the storm, Yugi Motou watched as his two new friends disappeared back into their time. He sighed. The adventure which he had been on in the last few hours had felt like it was much longer, but he could rest at ease knowing that another evil had been stopped. However, he was now struck with a deep feeling of sadness because of the bonds which he had suddenly made.
"Something wrong Partner" said the voice of Yami Yugi inside Yugi's head.
"Well..It's just..we'll never see them again will we?" the question was posed to his "Other me", the spirit of the 3,000 year old Pharaoh who was inhabiting his mind.
Appearing before Yugi as if a specter, Yami Yugi looked warmly at his partner, who was much less mature than him. "I have a feeling we'll meet again, someday" he smiled.
The Other Yugi agreed, nodding to show this.
"YUGE! Where are you?" shouted a boy who looked significantly older than Yugi, but was, rather surprisingly, the same age as him. This person was Joey Wheeler, his best friend for the past year or so. Yugi turned to welcome his friend, who was accompanied, as always, with Yugi's two other friends, Tristan Taylor and Tea Gardener. Greeting them, they decided to hang around the city for a little while before returning to spend the night at Yugi's. The city of Domino was the one place on earth that seemed to suit the hobbies of this group. Its shops and events were devoted entirely to games. More often than not it was trading cards, the game Duel Monsters being the perfect example. This game had come to dominate the world, with bandits springing up searching for the rarest cards. Malicious organizations had begun to use this game to achieve their ends. It was useful for them, for one you could hardly prosecute someone who defeated another person in a card game. And if that person happened to suffer physical injury as a result of said game, how could you prove it was done by their opponent? It was also very useful for people without malicious intentions, who had an equal chance of defeating their opponents, as the game had rules and regulations that were strictly adhered to by self respecting players. Yugi had seen first hand the influence of this game. Over the past year or so he attended two tournaments which started as a new way to make friends with similar hobbies and turned into a desperate struggle between good and evil. Being very experienced in games, and with the help of the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle, Yugi had earned the title, 'King of Games', which was sought after by many duelists worldwide.
When the sun had begun to set and darker clouds enveloped the horizon, the group of friends made their way to Mutou Game shop, Kame Shop. It was run by Yugi's beloved Grandfather, Solomon. The old man was an experienced archaeologist and a games expert. He had given his like-minded Grandson the Millennium Puzzle. This was the pendant which he wore at all times. It was sealed centuries ago by an Ancient Pharaoh, and locked within it was said to be a great evil, as well as the soul of the Pharaoh who sealed it. The completion of the Puzzle was an adventure itself, allowing Yugi to make two of his most important friends and ever since then, its has lead Yugi both to and through unimaginable peril. The soul of the Pharaoh which inhabited the Puzzle was that of a vengeful spirit, the merging of the Great Pharaoh from all those centuries ago and the evil which he locked himself away with. Through exposure to the innocence and optimism of its partner, Yami Yugi, as the spirit came to be called, developed into a calmer and caring person. He had championed the cause of righteousness many times in the face of incomprehensible evil. This spirit also was an expert at games, and was the reason for his partner achieving the title 'King of Games'. Solomon Mutou was aware of this spirits presence, even as he greeted Yugi and his friends upon their arrival. He had become close to this particular group, as they frequented his shop and had made it popular among their classmates. As night fell, dark clouds moved in from the sea and had almost blocked out the light of the moon. Retiring for the night, Yami Yugi noted a certain feeling of dread which he could not avoid. I fear something terrible is going to happen he reflected.
The night had been silent only briefly when another spirit began to make his moves. This spirit was that of a thief from the same time as the Pharaoh. Scavenging the main plaza of Domino City, he came upon futuristic instruments in pieces, but the supernatural power of his millennium item managed to corrupt and manipulate the machinery which Paradox had used to travel from the future. It was through this meddling that suddenly in the middle of the night, unknown and bewildered people were transferred to the floor of Yugi Mutou's bedroom.
I realize now that I have to redo the next three chapters for this to make sense. And since it takes an hour at a time to do that, well, lets just say that I'll get around to it. I hope you enjoyed the chapter in any case.
