--Remembering--
Hinata remembers that the year she turned three was very important. She thinks it's because it was when she first learned the lesson that a person's eyes are the windows to their soul.
She remembers when she first met Neji that year, a boy with eggshell white eyes that made her think of a paper lantern, bright and beautiful. She remembers thinking that his eyes are strong and his eyes are the eyes she wished to have. Clear and filled with an intimate confidence she lacked.
Hinata remembers how his eyes smiled, even though his lips hardly ever smiled with them. She remembers how her soft, shy giggles sounded next to his deep chuckles.
Hinata remembers how one day his eyes were dark and clouded, and how it would be nine years until that changed. She remembers thinking that it was strange, because the color of Neji's eyes hadn't changed, but she felt like it wasn't the same person looking through them. Hinata remembers the feeling of loosing her first friend when she looked into those eyes.
Hinata endured through the sharp look in his gaze and words he threw like kunai whenever he saw her from then on.
Hinata is enduring because she remembers.
>>she remembers because she cares>>
Author's Note: I suddenly got inspiration for this 200 word drabble while sitting in a hour long bus ride. XD Maybe the first in a series of Hinata-centered drabbles? Definitely a rabid fan tribute to Sunfreak, whose work makes me more of fan every time I re-read those wonderful Hinata drabbles. More Hinata drabblings depends on whether or not anyone would want to see them from me I guess. And NejiHina because I adore that pairing. X3 Hope to see you all soon? Ja ne!
