Happily Ever After

'Do endings always finish with a "happily ever after" and a smile?'

"Jillian, don't do it!"

"I have to Sky! It's... it's for your own good."

The girl strode over to the God of all Pokemon Arceus. It looked at her, emotionless. She stared until her deep red eyes pained but she kept them wide.

"Arceus... I must ask of you."

"Wishes are granted for a price, Jillian." Arceus spoke to her, knowing what she was going to request.

Jillian clenched fists as she glanced at Sky and back to the Pokemon before her. "I'll do it."

"Jillian!"

Sky's voice hit her ear drum hard as she hated the sound of him being in pain. She wanted it to stop, for it to end.

"There is one thing... that this boy really wants," Arceus told her. "And that is your true feelings."

Jillian gasped and she held onto the sleeve of her shirt tightly. She knew she would have to do it someday... to tell him that she loved him. But how?

"You're going to get hurt, Jill! I'm okay..." Sky's attempts to reassure her failed.

She carried on walking towards him; in his bruised and injured state he couldn't move. A powerful Psybeam came out of nowhere and slashed against Jillian's arm. She grinned as her eyes trailed up to look at the sky. Many Pokemon surrounded her, they all eyed the blood dripping from her shoulder.

"Well, let's get this over with." Jillian muttered.

"I will begin the countdown... you must do this in order to save him." Arcues said, and Jillian heard its voice clearly.

10...

"Sky, first of all, I want to say that I was lost... lost in love."

9...

"Him, that other whom you thought I loved, was not to be... right?"

"But Jillian, you... you told me."

8...

"It was a lie, Sky! Believe me, I couldn't bear seeing you hurt that way because of me!"

7...

"..."

"..."

"Do not be afraid; keep on speaking, do not be silent." Arceus said to Jillian with a nod of its head.

6...

"I want to forget about him. I want you instead, I shouldn't have done what I did."

"I said it to you that day..."

5...

"...that I loved you."

4...

"Now, it's my turn!"

3...

"Sky, I'm sorry. I really am."

2...

"I've wanted to tell you for the longest time."

"I love you-"

BOOM!

Everything in Jillian's vision went blurry. She flew into Sky's arm in one swift movement. Her body was so close to his that she could make out every feature of the soft true smile he wore. Using the last ounce of strength to show that he was happy that he had gotten what he wanted.

Jillian began to sob as she noticed Sky's closed eyes. Tears poured from her own, her thoughts blocking out the noise of the happenings around her. Jillian had finally told Sky the truth. There was still one thing left to do.

She leaned forward slowly and planted a passionate kiss on his cold lips. She shivered and broke off as her injury on her arm sent a stinging pain through her. Arceus had told her, but it was too late.

Her head rested on his chest as her eyelids fell over her eyes. The last sound she heard... Arceus' words.

"Not a 'happily ever after' I'm afraid, my Jillian."

She smiled at her own ending before everything really did...

End.
