Their skates hadn't touched the ice in what seemed like millennia. It had only been a winter, but the two sisters had always looked forward to their figure skating gossip. It had once been three, but the two were content on their own.

Bella laced up her skate as Narcissa removed the cover to her blades. The snow was falling ever so slightly and the dull roar of the snowy silence hung thick over the frozen pond.

"I'll race you to the tree," Narcissa called out, starting to head out to the familiar tree on the other side of the solidified pond. Bellatrix, hastily pulling on her second skate screamed across the frozen air, "Hey! Wait for me you squib!"

Narcissa looked over her shoulder as she skated and saw her sister advancing swiftly, putting her entire body into catching up. Distracted, the younger sister lost control and swerved into a snow bank. With this, Bellatrix sped up and daintily breaked, putting a crimson nail onto the tree bark, "See, you just can't beat me."

"Not fair," Narcissa sat on the snow pile, defeated. "You totally cheated."

"Did not!" Bella smirked victoriously. "The rules clearly dictate that if one competitor falls on her ass then it is, by no means, the fault of the other competitor."

"You made that up! Didn't we already discuss the 'no making up rules policy' last winter?"

"That only applies because Sirius was here and Aunt Pandora said that we couldn't keep pushing her son over," Bella sighed. "Shame. Those ten points for knocking him over made the game more fun."

They strayed to the topic of their boyfriends and things that they did to drive them crazy, laughing as only Black women were capable of; shrill and warm at the same time. Bellatrix shared personal details of how Rodolphus rather liked when she etched into his skin with her fingernails and Narcissa pitched in how she would have Lucius lean back and kiss him upside down. The two could share this information without fear that the other would spread the gossip because they were that close. They were as close as sisters could get, sharing everything.

They skated for hours, breaking only when they were no longer able to feel their extremities. Cheeks ablaze in the cold, they headed back to the house, leaving the winter scene devoid of life and colorless once more.
