Another request from tate310, this time it's "Harvey to the Rescue" from Season 6. Enjoy and comment.

The engines on Sir Topham Hatt' railway love Brendam Docks. There was always lots and lots of work for the engines to do. They also love seeing new engines arriving from far away lands to help out with the work,

One day, a new arrival came to Sodor.

"This is Harvey the crane engine." Sir Topham Hatt said proudly.

The other engines thought Harvey looked strange. Then, Sir Topham Hatt introduced some men wearing black suits and black ties.

"These gentleman are from the railway board." Sir Topham Hatt said. "Tomorrow, Harvey will give them a demonstration, and if all goes well, Harvey will join the railway, but if he fails, he will be sent to scrap.

All the engines wanted Harvey to join the railway, but they were nervous that Harvey would fail and be sent off to scrap.

That evening, Thomas had just returned from a hard days work. He saw Harvey parked near the shed. Harvey was sad because the other engines were talking about him.

"Harvey' different." said Henry.

"He doesn't even look like a engine!" said Edward.

"Surely Sir Topham Hatt' won't let him pull coaches." sniffed Gordon.

"He's just Cranky on wheels!" said James.

All the other engines glared at him and James looked away, wishing he hadn't said anything.

"He's not taking my mail!" said Percy.

Thomas felt sorry for Harvey.

"Don't worry. Sometimes it takes a while to make new friends."

But Harvey wasn't sure he wanted to stay.

The next morning, Sir Topham Hatt sent the engines off to work so that the demonstration could happen,

"Maybe I shouldn't be here." said Harvey sadly.

"Rubbish!" said Sir Topham Hatt.

"But the engines don't like me 'cause I'm different."

"Different is what makes you special."

Harvey felt much better.

Meanwhile, out on the branch line, Percy was having trouble with the trucks.

"Faster along, faster along. Pull him along, don't let him slow!" sang the trucks.

"Help!" cried Percy. His driver applied the brakes, but it was too late! He went off the rails at Bulgy' bridge!

Luckily, no one was hurt, but Bertie was very cross.

"You've blocked the road!" snapped Bertie.

Percy was upset.

When Sir Topham Hatt heard the news, he went straight to Harvey.

"I need you to rescue one of my engines."

"I'll try my best sir." Harvey said bravely as he went off.

He soon arrived and went right to work. Sir Topham Hatt and the men watched, as Harvey placed Percy and the trucks back on the tracks in no time. Everyone clapped and cheered, and the railway board were very impressed.

"That was the finest demonstration I have ever seen!" said Sir Topham Hatt with glee. "The railway board have decided that you shall join the railway!"

"Oh thank you sir!" said Harvey proudly.

That night, Harvey heard the engines talking again. This time, it was different.

"Well done Harvey!" said Gordon.

"Very useful!" said James.

"You can take my mail anytime!" said Percy.

"I'm sorry I said that you didn't even look like an engine." apologized Edward. "It wasn't right of me to say that to you."
"Welcome to the Sodor Railway!" they called.

Harvey smiled happily.
