Hey. I'd like to welcome you to my bullshit life. My name is Dave Strider. And holy fucking shit I just got invited to some fancy private school. "Derse Private High" is what they decided to call themselves, I mean what does "derse" even mean? I guess it doesn't matter anyways. But how I got here I don't even know, all I know is Bro talking in my ear about this stupid private high school.

"This is one of the best schools in the country ya know?" He says.

I grumble a bit, "I still don't understand how I of all people got invited."

Bro looks at the document and reads it over again. "I don't know lil' bro, you're a pretty smart kid." He ruffles my hair. Please stop. He doesn't stop. "You're gonna do great things kid, just wait and see" He almost smiles. Almost.

I look at the paper again. August 12th. I only have a month before I need to be there.

A month goes by much faster than expected. 'Cause next thing I know Bro is yelling at me to start packing we're leaving for the airport in half an hour. Unfortunately for me there is absolutely no way I can fit my timetables into my suitcase. So, I settle for my mouse model in a jar (it's just bones). I bring some clothes and all the necessary hygienic products and haul my suitcase down about 30 flights of stairs sense the elevators broken. They really need to fix that shit.

Once in front of Bro's truck I ditch my suitcase in the back and open up the passenger door. I unceremoniously collapse in the seat. Seat belt. Check. Waiting for Bro. Check. The car purrs to life, although it sputters a bit it works fine. Most of the time.

We don't say much on the way there. There's nothing to say. There rarely is, but I kind of want to talk to him, but I don't. I never do. There's a melchancholic mood when we arrive at the airport. We get through security and everything without problems. Bro gives me one last hair ruffle just before saying, see you in a few years lil' bro, and leaves me to board the plane. I sigh one last time and take that first step into hasta la vista Texas. It's time to head to California.
