"Have you continued reading them, Ando-kun?"
"Well, to tell you the truth…"
"Ando-kun! You have kept my whole collection for weeks now," Hiro points out and looks slightly annoyed at his co-worker. Ando sighs, a hand over his forehead. "You'll never finish it at this rate."
"I know. I know, my bad," Ando says. He tries to make his best friend to lower his voice and fails miserably, because Hiro appears all too determinate to bug him today. "I promise I'll finish it soon, ok?"
Now it's obvious that asking Hiro for his Lord of the Rings' books (in their original language, even) was a mistake, if only he could have know before… but no one is able to change the past, so thinking about that isn't going to help him now. Ando is pretty sure it's because of Hiro's bad influence that he thinks that way now. He has become such a geek recently, shame on him.
"You better do it. I have an awesome fan made guide to role-play LotR and I want to try it!" Hiro says, loudly. "Oh, the guide is in English, though. I need you to translate it, please."
Ando almost falls off the chair after hearing Hiro, both eyebrows raised. "Wait. You want me to translate and play that role-play game with you because you want to try it?"
Hiro nods effusively and Ando sighs again. "Yes! You see, I read somewhere it's pretty good and tried to translate it by myself, but it's going to take me forever! Please, Ando-kun, you're my only hope!"
Ando waits until a fellow co-worker passes them, embarrassed after Hiro's loudly behavior. "Just because I'm the only one who would be that crazy…"
"Ando-kun, pleeease. I promise you'll have fun!" Hiro assures him. "Besides, you liked the movies, right?"
"Yes, but Tolkien describes a lot! You're cheating anyway, because you simply read the translated versions and also you're such a purist, your plan is to make me to tell you the differences they have," Ando retorts, somewhat annoyed.
"B-but Ando-kun--"
"It's ok, Hiro. I'm not angry. Give me another week and then I'll help you translate that guide."
"Great! You're the best friend ever," Hiro says, happy. "You shouldn't complain that much, Tolkien's description is fantastic."
Ando is far too used to agree to Hiro's favors by now, and a part of him wonders why he always pleases him, but now isn't the right time to think about it. Instead, he sees his friend directly in the eyes. "Whatever, just be more patient… and today's lunch is your treat."
"Alright. Thank you so much. You'll see! It will be awesome. You'll take Gimli's role and I'll take Legolas's role, I have everything figured out!" Hiro announces, grinning. "I wanted to be Frodo, but I like elves better and you'll make a perfect sidekick! Aren't you excited, Ando-kun?"
Maybe Ando is going crazy like Hiro, but he actually smiles. "Sidekick… Why can't I be Aragorn?"
"Because you're my best friend! Aragorn isn't Legolas's best friend, Gimli is. So you have to be him, understand?"
"I guess so," Ando says.
"And, I want to name our quest as 'The Adventures of Hirolas and Andoli'; it sounds better than 'Hirodo' or 'Hirogorn'. Don't make me start with your name, so you're in?"
Hiro looks so excited that Ando just nods once, knowing he has lost the fight. "I think it will sound better with 'epic' somewhere in the title."
He will make sure that Hiro treats him to lunch for the next whole month, though.
