Positive Effect

Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. All flames shall be used to fry Sakura. ( My slightly ironic sense of humor is sprinkled about- you've warned.)
Chapter 1 ? : Family
The teacher leaned over and made a little T-chart on the ebony haired child's paper. " In this column, you write people who've had a strong positive effect on you. They can be family, friends, neighbors.... anyone." In the other column, what they did for you.
Family.
An overall positive effect is when thinking of someone leaves you with a smile on your face. Sasuke has no one like that. Because Sasuke has no family currently. And there isn't any such thing as " happy memories." All they serve to do is remind you of what is gone. What you can never have again. People spout things like "love conquers all", but it isn't true. Sasuke's father loved him more than anything. Every time Sasuke thinks of his father, he feels his heart become a little more shadowy. That definitely isn't a positive effect.
Inevitably, thinking of family leads his mind down the melancholy, well trodden pathway to his brother. This pathway has a lot of colors... red for fury, deep blues' regret, greys' numbness, greens; cynicism. Yes, cynicism. Sasukes' clearest memories from that time aren't those of parents' corpses. Sasuke remembers most clearly coming to school and wondering what made it seem different. By the end of the week, Sasuke knew that Itachi's had taken away his friends as much as his family. By the end of the year, Sasuke knew that his parents were just as much to blame as Itachi. Sasuke has covered this topic in his head again and again. He's never stopped thinking since then. Sasuke knows where these paths lead, and none of them are " Positive."
" Itachi"," Family" and " Positive Effect" don't belong in the same sentence.
On to the next topic.

Next Topic: Friends. This will be a three chapter story if enough people tell me that they want to see the other two parts....
I know that I promised some Sasu/Naru. I'm getting there. The focus of this story will be the angst, not the romance. I'm trying to go for a story that aside from just dripping in darkness, gives the angst more than one dimension... meaning of course, that I'll never be able to do that. A cup of ramen for your thoughts?
