Maybe it was the way in which she held herself so organized and proud, but yet so casual. He didn't know. All that he knew was that he was mad about her, and that they were never meant to be. She was too independent for love. No. love, to her, would be a cage which stopped her from being free. He knew what she had gone through. He knew how much she had loved her family. He saw her, in the corner sobbing gently. He moved towards her, almost in a trance. He sat down beside her and put his finger on her chin and lifted her face. Even when she had been crying, she looked beautiful. He whispered three words to her. He knew that the odds were against them…. He knew he had responsibilities. But he didn't care. At that moment he only cared about her. That girl in front of him.

She heard him whisper. Her heart became heavier. Her sobbing stopped. She looked at the eyes in front of her. She felt his love. She knew that they would never be safe. But she didn't care. She whispered his words back to him and saw a tear made its way down his cheek. They leant closer and her lips touched his. She wrapped her hands around him and pulled him closer. He caressed her face when they broke apart. At that moment she knew. She was safe.
