The Girl with the Broken Heart
Once upon a time, there was a girl who loved everybody equally, and there was not a speck of hatred in her bones. Everything she did was to help someone, even if it would hurt her. Her heart, though beautiful and kind, began to grow weak under the strain. One day, she met a boy. The boy was handsome and funny, and they became friends. She eventually fell in the love with the boy, but he did not love her back. Her beautiful heart split down the middle, and he never spoke to her again.
She learned to live without the boy, but her heart was crumbling more and more each day. Not long after, she met a boy who promised to fix her heart. She eagerly let him try, gathering up the pieces and offering them to him. He took them from her, and tried to put them back together with bits of time and her tears, but they just fell apart into a fine powder. Never the less, the girl thanked him for his efforts.
By now, she was terribly afraid. Her heart was in such small pieces, she was afraid to lose it. So she guarded it closely, and never showed it to anyone.
The girl had a best friend, another girl with a large and beautiful heart. Her friend lived many miles away, so she set out on a long journey to see if her friend could save her heart. She offered her friend the pieces of her heart.
Her friend was afraid that she could not fix her heart. She worked slowly, molding it bit by bit, holding the fine powder together with laughter and care, and the girl's heart began to take shape.
As the girl took back her heart from her friend, a feeling of warmth and happiness flowed through her veins. It was a feeling she had not felt for a very long time.
It was love.
