James was playing with harry. He was making colored smoke for him to play with. I smiled. Harry was laughing so hard as he reached out his chubby baby fingers to try and catch the smoke. James was laughing. I looked into his face. His hazel eyes were lit with happiness from watching our little boy play. I started to walk over to them when the door was blasted off its hinges. I ducked out of the way of the flying debris. James ducked over harry to try to protect him. I looked up into blood red serpentine eyes. James's eyes were wide with fear. He looked at me. Time seemed to stop. He was here, Voldemort, to kill our son. James yelled at me to go. "Run Lily! Take Harry! I'll try to hold him off!" I hesitated, not wanting to leave James with Voldemort. James looked at me. In his eyes I could tell he knew he was not going to make it out alive, but that he was ready. He would risk his life to save Harry's and mine. I ran. I ran up the steps and stopped on the balcony. I could see James facing off Voldemort. James didn't have his wand. I realized I was crying. Harry played calmly with my hair while I cried. He was oblivious to everything, which I was thankful for. Everything was in slow motion. "James potter" Voldemort said with and icy voice. James stepped closer to him. "You won't hurt my family." He whispered. Voldemort laughed, cold and heartless. He rose his wand "AVADA KADAVRA" he shouted. James turned to look at me. A small smile grazed his lips. He fell over backwards hitting his back on the table as he fell. His beautiful hazel eyes that were so full of life and love were now dull and unseeing. "NO!" I screamed. "JAMES!" Voldemort looked up at me. I turned and ran into Harry's room, sobbing. James couldn't be dead. He was James. My James. Nothing ever stopped him. I heard footsteps outside the door. I turned and placed harry in his crib. "Ma?" he gurgled. I smiled a shaky smile. I traced his face lightly with my finger. The door blasted open. I moved to block harry from the flying debris. Wood and plaster scraped my back and face. I turned to look into the blood eyes of the creature that killed my soul mate. "Not Harry, please not Harry," I begged. "Step aside you silly girl," he said in a deadly voice. "No please, kill me. Not Harry. Please I'll do anything. Please" I begged, sobbing. "This is my last warning!" he said with venom in his voice. "No please have mercy! Have mercy!" he muttered one last curse and a bolt of green light filled the room with light. And Lily Potter saw no more.
