This fanfiction is based on the Japanese version of the Kirby anime. Some names, however, will be drawn from the English version if it sounds better or cooler (besides, who the hell names a giant demon wolf "Chili Dog"?)
Prologue: Future Sight
"Hello?"
There was a pounding next my feet. Somebody was trying to wake me up, but I was in too much pain for words. I put effort into prying my eyes open.
"Wake up! Please wake up! We don't have much time!"
As I forced myself awake... a familiar face stared at me. Thank goodness, it was a friend.
"...T.A.C.? Where... where am I? What happened?"
Finally gaining the strength to right myself and stand up, I took a look at my surroundings. We were in some sort of big, metal lobby, tugged neatly in the corner behind a column of sorts. The ceiling was high... everything was very white and blue.
"Listen," T.A.C. explained. "We don't have much time. The place is being bombarded big time, and word's to say they've got our friends locked up a hundred or so sections away." He pointed towards the door on the other side of the room. "They're scheduled for execution in thirty minutes, so we need to make haste."
Thirty minutes!? I... screamed inside. Did I lose that much time?
Clearly so; as soon as that thought hard-wired itself in my brain, an explosion in the room followed. The column we were standing next to bent horribly, and the place was cloaked in a thick smoke. There was a noise coming from in front of us; a horrible, mechanical roar from Hell itself.
From the smoke came a gargantuan machine. Almost like a living vehicle, but the tiny eyes in front made its ominity clear. The grating roar continued, but words were formed...
"HR-E reporting in. We found the Icon."
My hands glad in metal gauntlets, I felt for the sword sheathed on my back. I found myself immediately dashing towards the metal beast, the sound of my metal feet clashing with the metal floor beneath me. There was no time to hesitate, no time to hold back. This battle must end swiftly, or else. I will not cower. I will not falter.
For I wield the Legacy.
