Chapter 1

Six years after Ginny had graduated from Hogwarts, the close friends of the Weasley's had come together to celebrate her birthday. Harry, her boyfriend, had just Apparated into view alongside Hermione. Ron immediately sprinted into the garden of The Burrow to greet his friends.

'Harry! Hermione!' he shouted.

'Hey!' both of them replied together.

Ron extracted an old, crumpled note and said, 'I got your note Harry! Blimey! You really gonna do it tonight, ey?'

Harry dug around in his pocket and pulled out the scarlet red velvet box, which held a beautiful ring inside it.

'May we see it?' Hermione asked, her insides dying to catch a glimpse of the ring Ginny would soon be wearing.

Harry opened the case with a shine in his emerald green eyes. And there it stood, the beauty of the peridot stone on a simple silver band, shimmering in the moonlight.

Hermione gasped, 'Wow – it's so simple – yet elegant!' Isn't that her birthstone?' She pointed her wand over the ring and it confirmed her thoughts.

'Well, what a coincidence!' Harry joked, with a cheeky smile.

Ginny came outside, desperate to see her boyfriend.

'So, we'll leave you to it then!' said Ron, grabbing Hermione's hand and leading her into The Burrow.

'Happy 24th Birthday!' Harry whispered as he embraced her in a passionate kiss, her plush, velvet lips met his, and she ran her delicate fingers through his hair. Harry didn't remove his hands from her waist as the broke apart. She leaned in again, but Hermione had come out and they were to go inside, the feast was to begin soon. Ginny gave him a quick kiss on thecheek and she tried to get a hold of Harry's hand.

'You go ahead. I'll be there in a sec. I just want to do something.' he said. Luckily, Ginny understood and she hurried back inside.

Harry inhaled and took deep breaths, trying to dry his damp, sweaty hands. It'll be alright. He closed his eyes for a moment, and then strode into The Burrow. The scents drifted through the air and immediately lifted his mood when he caught a whiff of chicken. 'I hope she says 'yes',' he thought over and over again.
