iLove New Years.

"Carly, your turn," Billy said.

Carly spun the plastic water bottle, crossing her fingers secretly. Jake, Jake, Jake, Jake... Gibby. "Happy New Year to me," she grumbled. She quickly pecked the shirtless boy, then turned to her left.

"Sam, your turn," she told her friend.

Carly nodded to Jeremy, who sneezed on Freddie. While Freddie looked away in disgust, Jeremy set down a small piece of metal in front of Freddie, mumbling "Sorry". Sam didn't see any of this, because Carly was showing her how to "spin the bottle properly."

"Okay, all right, I get it. I can spin," Sam said, doing so. It spun a few times dramatically. "Lucky me," she said sarcastically when she saw who it landed on.

Freddie looked at her, and she got a little nervous, strangely; but she managed to kiss him. It was a little longer than a peck, but still a kiss.

The game wore on. Both Sam and Freddie soon grew bored, and they left the little circle of partygoers and went outside to talk.

"Some game, huh?" Freddie said as they both shivered on the fire escape.

Sam scoffed. "It was totally rigged! How else do you think we would've kept getting each other?"

Freddie smiled in the faint light. "Probably. You cold?" he asked, noticing Sam shuddering in her shorts and sweatshirt.

"Yeah, a little bit."

He gradually moved closer to her.

Sam looked at him, smiling. "Look at you! Nub's trying to be all smooth." She wrapped her arms around him to stay warm, and he did the same to her as they sat on the fire escape's steps.

Freddie and Sam sat there, under the stars, thinking that they were the only ones around. Freddie looked at his watch; 11:59.

"It's almost midnight," he told Sam. "We should probably hurry up and get back to the party so we don't miss the popping of the cider..." He tried to stand up, but Sam kept her arms around him.

"Not just yet," she said. "I want to start this new year right. Tell me when it's twelve."

Freddie kept his eye on his watch. "Twenty more seconds," he informed her. She smiled, counting down to five in her head. She sat up.

"Five...four...three...two...one. Happy New Year, Freddie," she said, then met his lips with hers before he could say it back. All around they heard people yelling out their wishes of a happy new year to one another.

Carly looked down on her friends on the fire escape from her window. She sighed happily. "We rigged it for good reason. Happy New Year, Freddie and Sam," she whispered, then shut the window.

Author's Note: There was a magnet in the bottle and each time Freddie or Sam got a turn, a piece of metal was put in front of them. I thought I'd mention it so you're not like "What?"
