Jacob's POV

I waited anxiously for Bella to arrive, going over what I'd say to her in my head. After ten minutes, I heard the rumble of the truck and smiled. 'That's my Bella,' I thought.

She stopped the truck about fifteen feet away from me and leaped out, leaving the keys in the ignition. She ran up to me, out of breath and smiled when she said my name.

That made me smile too, so I offered her a huge grin. She smiled even more and reached around my waist to give me a huge hug. I pulled her close around her shoulders, not giving her my usual death hug, resting my chin on her head. I kissed her hair.

We walked down the beach, hand in hand. It was silent, but it wasn't awkward. I soaked it all up, knowning this may be the very last time I'd ever have with Bella. We stopped at our piece of driftwood and sat down. I put my arm around her and she leaned against my chest. I sighed.

She looked up at me. "Jacob," she tilted her chin up. She wanted this as much as I did.

I leaned my head in, our lips centimeters away. Her breath was cool and refreshing on my hot skin. We closed in. I placed my hand on the nape of her neck; she knotted her hands in my hair. Her lips were so soft. Minutes passed before we came up for air. She got off the log and sat in my lap, wrapping her legs around my waist. This completely threw me off guard, but made me want her even more. We kissed fiercely and passionately. One hand stayed knotted in my hair, which drove me wild, while the other ran up and down my chest. Her cool hands on my scorching abdomen gave me an adreneline rush. We finally came back up for air. I grinned wildly at her which made her melt. My smile was my secret weapon. I knew she loved that special smile.

She had her lips by my neck and started kissing it. I moaned her name softly, but her contact with my neck suddenly made me remember why I asked her to come here. My happiness disappeared. Picking her up, I stood up and sat her back down on the log.

"Bella ... you know I love you. And I want to see you at your happiest, even if it's not with me." I sat down beside her.

"Jake--,"

"Bella, please. Let me finish. I love you more than anything, more than life itself. I would give everything up for you." My voice started to break, so I cleared my throat. "I'm not forcing you to choose ... that's terribley unfair. No ultimatiums, I promise." I smiled, showing I was sincere. "I do want to see you happy. I don't even care about myself anymore. That's why I've decided to end my life."

"What?! Jake, no!" Bella's bottom lip started to quiver. I kissed it.

"Bells ... you know there's no sense for my existance without you in my life. You can't have it both ways." I sighed. "You are my soulmate. The woman I wanted to grow old with. I just wanted to tell you all this before you were changed. To see if maybe, you'd change your mind. But like I said, this is not an ultimatium. I wanted you to know my alternative, in case you did change your mind and I was no longer ... here." I looked out at the ocean, squinted to see the coast line in the distance.

"Jake, you can't do that!" she screamed. "I'll leave Edward for you, just please don't kill yourself!" Tears were streaming down her face like the rain falling from the sky.

"I don't want you to leave Edward just to keep me alive. I want you to be with me because you want to, not because you feel obligated to."

She looked at me with pleading eyes. "Please don't make me choose."

I shook my head. "Bella, I'm not making you choose. I promised. No ultimatiums. I just want you to know my alternative if you go back to him and become a bloodsu--, I mean, one of them." I wrinked my nose at the thought.

"I just need to know, Bella ..."
