'It started out a usual day at the office. . .'
That's how most stories begin, right? Not this one, that's why I love it.
The name? Oh, it's Deep Six, by Thom E. Gemcity. It has everything. Romance, between Agent Tommy, and Officer Lisa. Adventure, between every case that Agent Tibbs, Agent Tommy, Agent McGregor, and Officer Lisa go on. Plus, Amy, the forensic lab chick, is awesome.
Wait, you meant my name? Oh, it's Shawn, Shawn Dario'Chel.
I'm in my favorite coffee shop right now. Yeah, good old Espresso Way. It's a nice place. The walls are painted a rich caramel color. There are rustic Italian paintings surrounding me. It gives the shop a nice homey flavor.
I'm a pretty regular Joe. Six foot one, dark brown hair, and a tanned body. I'm on my break right now. Yeah, I work at an office. Boring, right?
I'm on chapter twelve right now. Oh, and there's my cappuccino now.
I look up as the bell rings, signaling that someone else has entered. I have to admit, I'm a people watcher. Guilty.
I frown as a man comes in. To anybody else, he would just another passerby. But not me. I know him from somewhere.
I smile as I turn over my book and see his picture. Yup, that's him. Thom E. Gemcity.
I look up again as the bell rings one time more. This time a woman, in her late twenties, walks through. She has that exotic sense. She's beautiful, but I know better than to mess with her.
I saw that knife, honey.
With her, entered another man, about the same age as her. Dark brown hair and a smile upon his face. He seemed like the typical playboy. In fact, I'm pretty sure he was. But, he hadn't even looked at anybody else as he sat down, his arm wrapped lazily around the woman's waist. But something's wrong, oh, I see. He has a scar along his jaw and a bruise at his temple.
In fact, so does the woman, a scar on her eyebrow, and a bruise along her neck.
Like she was choked.
They're recent. I would know; I got too many scars when I was a kid. That, and my sister's a doctor.
But, they're smiling, and I wouldn't be.
Thom is still buying coffee. Three cups of it, in fact.
You really know a person when you can get their coffee without them present.
"C'mon Ziva, you got to be kidding me." The man says, to, the woman, um, Ziva.
"Nope, I am serious, Tony. 'The Sound of Music' is better than 'Spiderman'." Ziva says to um, Tony.
I roll my eyes, they're talking about movies.
"Well, you know what's weirder than both those movies?" asks Tony
"Hm?" murmurs Ziva
"The fact that McGee over there based his book off of us," he exclaimed gesturing towards Thom
"It's not Tim's fault he has no imagination," she retorts.
I frown and look at the cover, 'Thom E. Gemcity.'
I take a pen and a napkin. I was right; Thom E. Gemcity is Timothy McGee.
Then that must be Lisa and Tommy, I mean Ziva and Tony.
And they thought the romance was fiction?
