Setting: Post Hellboy II
Been a while since I saw stars, a real long while. I sniffed, feeling blood flowing through my nose. I hate bleeding. I spat some blood out of my mouth and raised myself up, dazed and a bit light headed.
I growled at the thing in front of me "That all you got, you ugly son-of-a…"
*WHAM*
Apparently not, I thought as I hit the brick wall behind me. I'm not even up yet and it's on me again. Big fucker too, looks like the Hulk and a pinecone has some kind of bastard kid. This thing is a hell of a lot meaner than the Hulk, though.
"You're not even trying!" I taunt as it rose me up by my neck off the ground, my feet dangling in they air as I try and reach for the Samaritan.
Almost got it.
*THUMP*
The beast tossed me into (of course) another brick wall. I shook my head and reached for my gun, just one shot and it would all be over.
"Damn!" The gun was not there, knocked away in the tussle. I couldn't beat this thing with brute force, which I have plenty off. It just kept coming back for more, again and again. I needed back up. I needed my gun.
My eyed grew big as the creature roared and lifted an SUV above it's head, ready to smash it down on my. That was going to hurt. "Aw, Crap." I closed my eyes and braced for the impact. Oh well, there were worse ways to end a night.
*BANG*
The thing let out a gruesome howl as it stumbled backwards, greenish brown something oozing from the gapping hole in it head.
"What the Fu-" I cut off as I rolled away quickly as the beast fell, the SUV that was once above its head landed on it with a loud crash.
Who shot it? No one came out with me tonight. No one was even supposed to know I was out.
I craned my eyes up to see a pair of legs standing before me. Nice legs, familiar legs. I smiled at Liz, she had that old familiar look on her face that let me know I owed her, big time. The Samaritan was held in her tiny hand. The gun was almost as big as her head, it's barrel was still smoking. She gave me a soft smile as I stood up next to her "What?" I asked teasingly as I look down on her. She's so beautiful after she's killed a big baddie, so powerful, so strong.
"You need to keep better track of your toys, " She smirked as she grabbed my belt and holstered the Samaritan. "I can't be saving your ass every time you go out and don't tell anyone."
"Thanks, Babe." I gave her a quick kiss and wrapped my arms around her waist. "You're my hero."
She smiled and fiddled with the front of my coat, "I know."
