Jin Kazama was a man with darkness in his heart. He felt regret for plunging the world into total chaos and gaining enemies in the process.
All in vain. He did those evil sins to produce the physical form of a spirit called Azazel.
Jin had been encountered by his father's half-brother, Lars before he killed Azazel. Jin punched a hole in Azazel and threw himself and Azazel off a temple.
Jin was thought to be dead after defeating Azazel, but his body was discovered in a comatose condition by the mysterious ninja known as Raven. However, the tattoo that was branded upon Jin by Devil, remained. He was not free of the curse.
Jin was hospitalized until he eventually woke up.
His company in a hospital consisted of Lars and Raven, who told him that his tattoo was still on his shoulder.
