Yevon, Auron noted, was not known for his sense of humor. And by his experience with Braska, neither the summoner nor the sacrifice had any control of the shape of the final Aeon. Therefore by process of elimination, Auron concluded that Yunalesca must have been a very bitter woman to give Anima the form it holds now.
"Yuna," He spoke gruffly, somewhat thankful that an Unsent didn't need to breathe and therefore was spared the god-awful stench of rotting flesh and sulphur. "Finish it before the others pass out."
Indeed, Lulu was using her Onion Knight as an air filter by pressing it to her face, but she still looked rather green around the edges. Kimahri was nowhere to be seen – his delicate Ronso nose was five times more sensitive that a human's and he probably found somewhere to hide (and retch) in silence. Tidus, Wakka and Rikku were accustomed to holding their breath for long periods, but just looking at Anima can turn one's stomach inside out.
Yuna suffered the worst, since she was the summoner. Still, she braved it. "Pain," She commanded. Anima obeyed, but the fiend didn't seem affected.
Auron grimaced. Pain is usually the easiest and quickest way to kill off a fiend, but on some occasion the attack will not work, and they must resort to longer methods.
Summoning Anima for a lengthy period of time is not good.
"Sir Auron," Yuna mumbled. "I'm going to call for Oblivion."
That was a warning. Oblivion, Anima's overdrive was insanely powerful, but also… insanely disturbing. So disturbing that the first time after Yuna called for it, everyone had hellish nightmares for a week.
Rikku whimpered and scuttled behind a rocky outcropping. "Okay, you can call now."
Tidus cast Darkness on himself, and Lulu did the same. "Go ahead."
Wakka, who could find neither shelter and could not cast magic, used his own Sleep attack on himself, determined to snore the attack away.
And Auron stood his ground calmly, since doing any of the above was just not Auron-ish.
"Oblivion!" Yuna commanded.
I swear, Auron thought venomously as Anima launched her overdrive; when I get to the Farplane the first thing I'll do is find Yunalesca and strangle the pyreflies out of her.
