In Love With a Bastard: Unspoken

Some say that to fall in love with Severus Snape was an impossible task, but Harry Potter managed to do it. Harry is known for achieving the impossible.

Others say that it is impossible for Severus Snape to love anything but his potions. But they were wrong because Severus Snape loved many other things as well; he loved the sound of raindrops, he loved winter and Scotland, and winter in Scotland. Snape loved Albus Dumbledore...no, not in that way! He loved Lily Evans and no, not in that way. In addition to that, Snape also loved black robes and black shoes and black hair.

So it was a good thing Harry Potter had black hair.

The thing Snape adored the most in this world might be Harry, if he was to admit it. But no, that was an impossible task. No one could get Snape to apologize or say a simple thank you, let alone declare his undying love to Harry Potter.

The first time Harry told Snape that he loved him, Snape did not respond.

But the man accompanied Harry to his parent's grave at Godric's Hollow. And he did not say one mean word when Harry broke down and cried. Instead, the man held the younger wizard in his strong arms until Harry was ready to go.

The second time Harry said those words, Snape changed the subject.

But the man took Harry out for ice cream, and did not break his limbs when the boy shoved the repulsive thing in his face and bolted. The man tolerated Harry's youthful and adolescent nature and often took time away from his lab to spend time with the younger wizard.

The third time Harry spoke lovingly, Snape answered sarcastically that Harry also loved brooms, lemon drops and blue cheese.

But the man let Harry call him; Sev, and Git, and Love, and Bastard and other ridiculous nicknames. And the man returned the favour by calling Harry; Brat, Idiot, Lovely, and Boy. At times when Harry yelled and blew up all the windows in his frustration, the man always forgave and accepted the apology when it came.

During the fourth time, Snape said that those were just words and that words meant nothing. Harry was hurt and shouted back that if words mean nothing, then why did Snivellus hurt so much? The man grew sad and when Harry tried to apologize, he turned away.

But the man let Harry top once in a while...once in a long while. And when he went to the XXX shop, he bought Harry's favourite lube and not his. And he endured Harry's impatience in bed and hypocrisy when it came to teasing.

And the fifth time Harry said 'I love you', all Snape said was that he knew.

But the man chased Kreacher away every Saturday so that he could make supper for Harry. And when the young Auror came home from a stressful day, he would bake Harry's favourite rhubarb pie.

Next came the sixth...

And the seventh...

Not to mention the eighth...

Finally, during the ninth time, Harry had enough and demanded;

"Do you love me?"

The man looked down at his beloved and answered. "I do not love you," there was a pause. "I adore you," and he leaned down to give Harry a hard kiss that was full of passion.

The man may or may not ever say those three little words. But that's okay, because Harry already knew.

And Harry also realized; actions spoke louder than words.
