So this story is in honor of the wizarding world's greatest war hero, Severus Tobias Snape.
Disclaimer: I do not own Harry Potter or else Snape really would get the honor and happiness he deserves.
Hermione Weasley walked through the lonely, snow covered grave yard in solemn silence. She was here to deal with another memory of her past. Her war filled past that tarnished much of her childhood. Her children, husband, and husband's entire family followed behind quietly, an unusual adjective to describe the Weasley-Potter clan. Their pace was slow as they waited for the others to join, including McGonagal, the Longbottoms, Scamanders, and Malfoys. One by one each of the anticipated guests apparated to a secluded part of the cemetery.
This little get together was organized, surprisingly, by Hermione, Harry, and Draco. Malfoy and the Golden Trio still had a good deal of tension between them though they were on civil terms now and they all agreed that this was something that needed to be done so, differences put aside for an afternoon, this plan came together. It had been over a decade since their potions master, Severus Snape, was buried. The funeral party was depressingly small and few understood what the spy went through. As years went past Draco learned more about his late godfather and between himself, the ever curious Hermione, and Harry's memories of Snape's memories they came to the same conclusion: Snape was a great war hero that did not receive what he deserved.
He had lived a life of complete isolation, walking a fine line between death and survival. He had to look into the eyes of his greatest love set in the face of his former tormentor for seven years knowing that he was the cause of the child's orphan status. He was hated by all and ridiculed by those he worked so hard to protect. In the end his life was taken under false pretenses and he didn't even receive a thank you. Not for his work as a double agent, not for protecting the students from the Carrows, or for his work as a teacher. He never received any gratitude.
It was too late to repay him properly but they could at least give him this: honor as a soldier.
Hermione, Draco, Harry, Ron, Ginny, Neville, and George stepped forward closer to Snape's humble, unassuming grave. Raising their wands in the air they each shot off three blasts of light simultaneously. It was a muggle military tradition but some wizards, particularly those with muggle backgrounds, had taken to using it after the war. As the last shots were fired silence once again filled the air. And then, in a moment reminiscent of Dumbledore's death, all the wizards present lifted their wands towards the sky in honor of Snape.
Simple gestures but they hoped that they got their point across, it was the least they could do.
AN: Okay not as good as I thought it would end up but please review anyway. Keep all criticism constructive.
