A/N: First NCIS fanfic – I'm blatantly new to the fandom. I don't even remember the episode where Ziva asked this question (which I probably misquoted), but I know my mind instantly flashed to some Tiva implications that, to me, were implied. :)

"It hurt falling in love while undercover, didn't it, Tony?" Ziva asked pointedly.

Tony winced internally. If only she knew.

The answer was yes. A harshly resounding yes. And not just because of Jeanne, who he assumed Ziva was referring to.

His mind flashed back to the time he and Ziva had gone undercover as the Raniers. He remembered all of the quality time spent in that hotel room.

He remembered the feel of her lips, the feel of what of her body he'd dared to touch, the feel of her hands on his body, her breathy whispers against his face, the sparking heat between them that neither dared put a voice to.

And he remembered having to forget it all, because none of it was real.

And he really remembered how painful it was to lose your heart while undercover.
