Author's note: When Dalton shows up to first clear the Double Deuce he fires 2 people right off the bat bouncer Morgan (Terry Funk) and Stella the drug dealing waitress. After the first night he fires the bartender Pat (John Doe) and the bouncer Steve. The firing of Pat of course sets the plot in motion by setting Wesley against Dalton with Morgan showing up again as one of Wesley's henchmen. We say them again, but what Steve and Stella? This fic will offer vignettes exploring what happened to them after their firing early in the movie.

*** Stella - 3 months after end of Road House ***

The Double Deuce was hopping as it was the premier night spot in all of Jasper, to get a hotter ticket you would have to go all the way to Kansas City! Patrons flocked in and then occasionally stepped out for a smoke. Those smokers who founded themselves overcome with morbid curiosity or wanting to light up more than tobacco found themselves gazing over at a car parked in the old lot of what use to be Red Webster's auto parts store. The occupant was one of DD's former employees, Stella who after the loss of her regular job took up dealing full time. The things of it was Wesley always demanded his 10% cut which she gave over as she was fond of breathing. It was getting hard to make ends meet and she was so stressed, what was she going to do? So just once, one time only she sampled her own product.

Or so that was what she told herself, then it became once a week, then every other day and now finally she was as strung out as the junkies that she used to serve. Wesley was dead and the stress was gone, but so was her life. She was now just a junkie sleeping in the car, ready to anything for her next fix. Occasionally during a moment of lucidity she looked back at who she was a few months ago and found herself pondering a total stranger. Was that really her?

*** Steve - 2 years after Road House ***

Steve adjusted his tie in the mirror, the bright blood red stood out against his starched, white shirt like tomato soup over rice. The dark, almost black navy blue of his suit completed the look. He was ready, and then a knock on the door. "Pastor Steve, are you almost ready?" The voice piped up evenly and relaxed, "Of course, just about to step out" Steve replied. Services were to begin at Parsons Cove Assemblies of God Church, and the newly minted Associate Pastor was more than ready to begin and share his testimony. The last 2 years were a blur, as he prepared to talk about the censored, PG-version of what happened to him in the last few years.

He was a bouncer in a bar, and took advantage of the job to sleep with anything that had a heartbeat. Only to go home and drink himself silly before waking up and doing it over again. That was his life and he loved it. Then he got fired and was so angry, angry at his boss, angry at everyone. While he had been fond of the drink before he found himself drinking all the time, anything to fill the void of losing his job then to see the place take off. Soon there was not a day that passed where he was not in a drunken stupor. Then that one day when he in a daze in a hotel room somehow the TV was on and some televangelist was ranting and raving on the air. And it was in that moment that Steve's life was changed forever, he came to know God. He quit drinking, quit sleeping around and knew he had to dedicate his life to the God who had just saved him! That was the short version anyway. Opening the door with a big smile he greeted the person checking on him and began walking towards the sanctuary ready to lead the morning's services.
