To other girl's foolish snickering, Paulina stared at them, shocked at their ignorance.
Had they no idea what the seriousness of this situation was?!
It could mean the end for her and others.

Star slowly pulled her silently, quickly aside. Making Paulina look from everyone's stares, she had Paulina keep her head down as she tiptoed with her out the cafeteria door. Walking through the ominous hall to her doom, the cold, dirty linoleum floors shouting to her eyes, "It's the end!" The lockers that passed, their dreary looks seeming to stare at her. Star pushed the Latina girl's head down again, and Paulina saw a door that she dreaded.
The public girl's bathroom. She tried to pull away in fear and disgust, but Star's grip on Paulina's wrist was firm. Pushing open the door, Paulina and Star stepped into what was, for them, the forbidden zone. Paulina shuddered at the place- the tiled floors were a dark green, not inviting to her. The walls were white-tiled, with the occasional blue tile standing out between them. The ceiling was disgusting, to say the least- it was cement, white. There were multiple pieces of gum and dry paper towels that were probably once made in one way or another to stick to the ceiling.
The smell was insulting to her nostrils- the room smelt like what you should know from a normal public bathroom, but, uncommon to Paulina herself. Star gave her a brave, sad look that said "I feel the same" and they, avoiding touching anything due to fear of germs, they found themselves in front of a scratched mirror on the wall for girls to view themselves with. Star used a single finger to push Paulina's reluctant chin up to the mirror...And Paulina froze.

This...Was the apocalypse!
This was scarier than any ghost Paulina's ever been attacked by.
Just as hard to believe, as well.
Her world shattered, everything she believed in was crushed. Her ways to defend herself proved obsolete.
It couldn't be.
But it was.
Whether Paulina liked it or not, she had to accept reality.
