Fifteen thousand years ago, the Echidna World was at peace. The Guardians of the Master Emerald ensured peace and happiness for their people.
One day, a sinister member of the Guardian Family arose. He tried to convince the people that they can do more with the Master Emerald, but the current Guardian objected to it; saying that it was only to be used the right way and for the good of the planet. The member was angry at the Guardian and told him that he would regret it for objecting his offer to the people.
As the years went by, the Guardian passed away. It was now time for a new Guardian to be selected. The sinister member tried to put his son for consideration, but he was not chosen. It was the son of the deceased Guardian that they chose. The member was angry and devised a plan to assassinate the new Guardian.
When the other members heard of this they banished him and his son, who was also in the plot to kill the Guardian. They were never to return to the city. Before that happened, however, the banished member side of the family rebelled and attacked the other side of the family which was the Guardian's side. The Guardian Family and guards fought hard but to no avail. They did not know that their own family would turn against them.
The Master Emerald was shattered into pieces because of the fighting. Just as all seemed lost the Guardian, at the cost of his own life, resembled the Emerald with the Staff of Light. Then the Guardian Family banished all who rebelled to another part of the planet.
A new Guardian was assigned in place of his father. The people were at peace once again, but no one knew if the other side of the family would come again and bring destruction to them all…
