Natasha Iris
I swallowed another pill to calm my stomach as the nausea from the boat rocking made me want to vomit. Motion sickness was one of my weaknesses. Along with social situations. Being a foster kid, it was hard to try to make friends. Heck, I hadn't even had one in years. It was a stupid party. End of the school year. I never went to these kind of things but my school guidance counselor suggested I go. She was awesome. Closest thing I had to an actual friend.
"Go on, be social. It could be good for you! You could make a friend!"
"Why? You're my friend."
"No, I'm your counselor and I'm telling you to go to a party which I should tell the principal about but I'm not because it'd be good for you to go socialize."
Convincing my foster parents was easier.
"As long as I get my check for babysitting you for the state, go ahead. Just bring some beer back for Walter."
Walter. My jackass of a foster 'parent'. He was a grumpy and sometimes, more than times, drunk. Whenever a case worker was scheduled they'd be nice but other than that they were just cranky and mean old people. The wind blew my black hair a little bit as I pulled out the iPod. I scrolled through the signpost as I slid on my headphones. I clicked on one of the songs and leaned on the railing. I let the beat clear my mind and cranked the volume up.
That's probably why I didn't hear the screams.
I slumped over after a while and closed my eyes. A few minutes passed before I felt something. The air felt different. Cleaner. I opened an eye out to a endless horizon and a clear, starry sky. I frowned, this wasn't anywhere near Seattle. The air was away too warm. I felt someone jab my shoulder. I turned with a confused look. The person seemed to be dressed in a suit from some fancy shop downtown and was holding some kind of knife. He said something out loud but I couldn't hear him. He rolled his eyes and pointed to his head before I realized what he meant. The music carried softly through the small area, "hey, hands up and don't make any moves!"
"Is this a part of the stupid party cause I don't feel like participating. I'm just here cause my school counselor told me to come," I was about to put the headphones back on before he lunged. I quickly took two steps backwards along the railing.
"I said hands up!"
I paused, "wait, are you robbing me?"
"More like human trafficking..." he grinned with a sadistic look.
I nodded, "oh..."
Simon Fernandes
I found it. That ship that kept going to that otherworldly and starting a slave trade. It was illegal and the reward was big for capturing their captain. I grabbed the rear anchor and started to pull myself upwards. Hopefully me taking a job like this solo would prove to my mom that I could take the S-Class trials. Plus Storm would be jealous. He was a bit too cocky for his own good. I flipped upwards the last five feet and quickly knocked one of the traders out without a sound.
That's when I heard it. Or rather, her.
I pressed up against the side of wall and peeked around the corner to see a black haired girl near my age with a pair of headphones on her neck playing strange music. It was strange considering Laxus was the only person I thought who had any for a few hundreds miles. She had to either be one of the Traders or one of the victims.
"Are you robbing me?" She asked one of the Traders who had her at knife point.
Victims. But how in the check was she awake!? They notoriously had sleeping spells and obedience spells cast on their victims. Yet here she was. An aware one. I'd have to get Mest to erase her memories. That world didn't have magic and treated it as a myth. The fact that she was up right now was worrisome. It meant I'd have to be careful.
"More like human trafficking actually..." the Trader said with a smile.
She waited a second before replying. Just tensed up as I was ready for her to give up. Instead she simply gave a quick nod with one line, "oh."
He jumped towards her and she quickly sidestepped with a level of alertness. She knew he'd try to go for one area. She quickly stomped on his toe causing him to yelp.
Idiot! The man was about to open his mouth before she gave a swift kick to the crotch and a follow up knee to the face. Neither made her look well trained. But it was a hit nonetheless. She took a few steps back as the man dropped the knife. She reared her shoulder back before jumping at him with her shoulder aimed for his upper body.
She made impact with just enough force to knock him over the railing and into the water and couldn't stop her own momentum before catching onto the railing on her fall. I heard the splash as she tried to pull herself up. I rushed out as she lost her grip.
Natasha
Two calloused hands caught me. I gasped in panic before I looked at the face of my rescuer and my heart stopped. Scarlet colored hair and eyes filled with determination and an outfit that seemed like something out of a fairy tale. I was quiet as he pulled me up and back over the railing. As soon as he let me go I dove for the knife, putting it between us, "who...who are you..."
He held up his hands, "my name is Simon. Do you know where you are?"
I shook my head, "no...are you with them?"
"No. I wouldn't ever side with people like them. I'm actually here to stop them."
I blinked a little bit, "wait, are you with the FBI or CIA or something?"
He wrinkled his nose, "no, in fact I've never even heard of them. What are they?"
I scoffed, "your joking right?"
He chuckled, "you're seriously from that other world, aren't you?"
Other world? What did he mean by Other World? I took a step back before looking up at the moon. It seemed different. Not just it's defining features but in one other reason.
It was supposed to be a waning crescent. Not a waxing gibbous.
A wave of emotions passed over me as I stumbled and dropped the knife. Is this what they called an alien abduction? I took a few deep breaths. This was too much. I walked past Simon while shaking my head, "no way. There is no way I went from Earth to whatever planet this is that quick. This is just a stupid boat!"
My stomach rolled in response. How were the meds wearing off already? I just took them. I shakily pulled out my bottle of pills and downed another one. He approached me from behind, "hey, are you okay? If you are just hide while I take care of this."
Something twitched in my brain, "so you're an alien?"
"Uh, whats an alien? Im human. Just like you. I just live in this world, not that weird place you live in that I keep hearing about from other victims. Im on a time crunch so can we please..."
I saw something glint in the moonlight and tackled him to the ground as a harpoon went sailing over our heads as we hit the deck. I scrabled for the knife I had dropped before a light shone out from behind me.
In movies, the protaganist always pictures a glow around someone when they think they are their soulmate. Not in this case because this was my life, and Simon was glowing like a beacon as he rushed forward and headbutted the attacker. A chorus of voices rang out. An alarm.
"WHAT THE HECK?" I shouted in surprise as he took a few steps back in my direction.
"What?" he replied over his shoulder casually as if he didn't just do something extrodinary.
"WHAT WAS THAT? YOU WERE GLOWING!?
He went back to back with me, "look, just hide okay! I'll take care of this!"
I gripped the knife tightly, "oh sure, lemme just be helpless and have a man rescue me! Great idea! Screw that im fighting for my life here!"
A few of the traffickers rounded the corner carrying a variety of weapons. One was even glowing.
Simon could tell I was nervous, "you aren't a wizard, it's best if you get out of the way!"
Wizard? He had to be...at this point I gave up on deciding if I were hallucinating or actually seeing all of this. One of the goons rushed forward and held the club over his head with a war cry.
"IT'S THAT PUNK FROM FAIRY TAIL!"
He seemed to pretend I wasn't even there as I swiped at his arm with the knife. I didn't want to kill. I'd go to jail. This was just self-defense.
I'd win a legal battle right?
Then again maybe someone spiked the punch.
He reeled back, and glared at me as the others rushed past as Simon ran forward to engage the others in a ten on one fight. I however was left in a battle with a really large man with a nasty gash in his right arm by yours truly. He sneered, "oh? A little bidie out of its cage? I guess I'll have to put you back with the others where you belong. Can't have our stock running wild now, can we. I felt slightly dizzy for a second, not like my motion sickness but like a trance. Something came over me and I really wish I could keep my damn mouth shut sometimes.
"Who you calling stock you oaf? The way I see it this blade is still hungry," my face contorted into a devilish smirk. Something awoke within me. I would never say things like that. Ever. I took a step back when I processed what I had just said to him.
His nostrils flared, "what was that? You got a mouth on you?" he patted his club which now had a glowing circle around the top as it lit on fire, "we'll have to fix that."
He swung and I jumped with a strength I knew was impossible to possess for me. I twisted in mid air and brought the blade down along his back. He howeled in pain and swung again, his club catching me in the chest. I was carried with the blow and thrown through the cabin wall.
I quickly stood up and looked at my hands, "what is happening to me!? This isn't normal!"
He came running in after me and swung once more. I was sort of ready as I managed to grab the club before it hit me. My hands weren't burning.
"Okay, that's freaky..." I shakily said.
The man frowned, "how are you this strong? You girls are never like this! The ethernano should render you in a dazed state, easy to manipulate. Who are you?"
I swallowed as he tried to push the club closer to me, "Natasha Iris."
He grinned, "it wont be for much longer!"
My eyes went wide before he punched me in the face. I didn't even see him free up his other hand. He laughed as I crashed through the wall again and rolled into the railing. Talk about party crashing. I could hear Simon fighting on the other side of the boat. So I did what any sensible person in my position would do.
I ran like a coward.
I zigzagged through doors trying to lose my pursuer until I bumped into an all too familiar face.
"Miss Hatori?"
It was my school counselor. No doubt about it. Her outfit was radically different though. A large hat civered her hair and a black sleeveless dress with gold trimming. A sword was strapped to her hip and a shocked expression was on her face, "Natasha?'
I grabbed her and pulled her into the nearest room and motioned for her to be quiet as I heard the thumping of the oaf's footsteps go by.
She stood patiently and oddly calm with a smile, "fascinating. You're unneffected but I should have thought as much. You always seemed special Natasha."
The color drained from my face as she smirked, "its quite impressive actually. I had my men cast a simple spell to knock out your classmates yet the one person I expected to show up wasn't in its area of effect and is running around my ship and thinks that I'm one of the good guys because I have a familiar face? You're so innocent Natasha."
I took a few strides back and squeezed my hands into fists. I was betrayed?
"I was going to sell you for a high price. Beautiful and physically capable and never assertive? Do you realize the profit loss your little behavior right now is going to cost?"
She pulled out a whip from behind her, "I actually thought maybe you could help me but there is such a demand from the other countries here in Earthland that I cant invite you. I'm sure you understand."
"Earthland?"
She laughed, "that's right. This isn't Earth. Welcome to my world Natasha. Where Magic is real and the strong become rich while magicless people like you are a resorce in places! Its Capitalism at its finest! The worst part was having to charade as aperson in your world for so long. How do you people even cope with no magic I will never know..."
"The internet is a magical place."
Her face fell flat, "seriously? I'm monolouging here."
She quickly snapped whe whip and cracked it across my arm. I cried out in pain and fell to the ground as my hand went to my wound.
"Oh good, yo're learning," she cackled, "you should never be at the same level as your master! Respect your surperior!"
I slowly stood, "so you think you can just take what you want and get away with it?"
"of course! Im the Siren of Old Bosco! I can do virtually anything I please!"
"How about beating a Fairy Tail wizard?"
This time, she backed up, "the other troublemaker? Wait, how do you know of that name?"
I bared my fists and closed the distance, "because it came from one of your men!"
My fist connected to her jaw as she stumbled back as I tried to advance before she quickly drew her sword, "now now, that wasn't very nice. Time for your punishment."
Simon
This was pathetically easy. I dusted off my hands after surveying my handiwork and looked for the girl. I searched the top deck and found the victims. Dazed and under a spell. Good. They needed to stay that way. A door flung open as a thug with a flaming club emerged and sighted me, "FAIRY TAIL WIZARD!"
"STUPID SLAVE TRADER!" I yelled back, mocking him as my body glowed again. Heavenly Body magic was a little overpowered for the task at hand but it got the job done. I made quick work of him before planting my foot on his chest, "hey, you seen a girl latley? Bout this tall? Pretty black hair? Bit of a temper? Brown eyes?"
He grunted, "I'm sure the captain is dealing with her now! Which means she..."
The door ahead of me slowly opened as the girl came out, beaten and bloodied while dragging an almost equally beaten unconsious body behind her.
"CAPTAIN HATORI!"
The unconscious woman made no response but something was wrong with the girl. She seemed, broken. Her eyes were brimming with tears, "she was my school counselor...why would she do something like this?" her voice cracked.
I stomped on the thugs face before making the short strides to her as she dropped the collar of the captain. I looked over her arms and legs that were exposed by the cargo shorts and shirt she was wearing. Gashes from a sword, lashes from a whip and even raw skin from magical attacks. Her clothing was torn too. Her hair was a mess and the pair of headphones she had on were broken in half. I helped her sit down as she looked at her hands, "I...hurt...someone...I almsot killed her...I was so...angry..."
I swallowed. I had never been in this situation before. Her clothes were sticky with her own blood. Blood. Her eyes fluttered a few times before she fell into my side.
This was bad.
TO BE CONTINUED?
Author's note: Okay. So out of everything I feel as if I've ever written, this story May be the most controversial but I wanted to write another Fairy Tail fiction besides NX and The Dragon Maiden. But anyways, I know it's missing a little bit of spell check and such but hopefully you guys enjoyed it if you made it here to the end. So uh yeah, have a good day everyone and tell me your thoughts on it. -Jay
