Title: Her Old Clothes

A/N: Takes place in the latter half of Season 3, after Alex has had her baby and is about to come off maternity leave.
This, too, would take some getting used to.
Not that it was a bad thing, of course. She certainly didn't mind fitting into her old clothes again. And she'd been missing her old job. Desk duty lost its luster after about the first two weeks.
But – she poked at her almost-flat stomach – there was a new lightness to her body now, and a space that she didn't take up. There was something that was missing now, even though it hadn't been there for long. There was an emptiness.
But she fit into her old clothes.
Alex pulled on her jacket and headed out the door.
