Ah... Harry thought, as he turned over in his new bed and stared at the ceiling...PAINTED, of his new room. Life at number four privet drive was definitely improving, The wizarding world had tried to cover it up but Sirius had been spotted in London and because of that the Dursley's went into a fit of hysteria each outthinking the other on ways Black could maim and torture them if Harry had been seen in his usual state of total neglect. So they had taken to feeding him...almost properly and Petunia had shrunk his clothes so as to make them fit more appropriately. But the biggest change they had made was certainly the most unexpected. They had moved Harry into Dudley's room and moved Dudley into Vernon and Petunia's. Vernon and Petunia had been sleeping on the fold-out couch and snapping at each other randomly, obviously angered by the new arrangements. Of course, Harry was feeling nervous about Sirius being spotted but that was only until Sirius had sent him and owl explaining it was only a spell that would form the likeness of him. The effect of it was exactly what Sirius had wanted. Tons of privileges for Harry.

Harry glanced at the clock. Nine o'clock, time for breakfast...lately he hadn't had to make it on Sundays when Petunia felt Harry's sole purpose in life was to allow her a bit of a lie-in. He rolled out of bed and changed his clothes grabbing his glasses off the dresser as he went. He walked down the stairs purposely reminding himself to walk slowly on the last steps so that the creak would last longer and annoy the Dursley's further...this was going to be fun. And then headed towards the kitchen where the smells of bacon, pancakes, eggs, and cinnamon buns was almost tangible. He sat down at the table and grabbed two of everything just daring the Dursley's to say one word.

"I'm going to have to have a permission slip form signed for Hogwarts." Harry said though a mouthful of bacon and eggs. He was really enjoying being able to talk about his school and friends openly. Even though the Dursley's hated this and came close to retorting every time he could still do it.

Vernon's eyes narrowed and stopped studying the newspaper in front of him. They just paused and didn't move as if determined that he hadn't heard the name of Harry's school. "What...?" He growled, his beefy face already purpling.

"Hogwarts...You know the school of Witchcraft and Wizardry? been around for thousands of years educating wizards like me? Oh, surely you remember it? I've only been going there for four years. Come now old chap!" He was having a bit too much fun...Oh well.

"I HEARD YOU!" The minute Uncle Vernon said the words he realized he had yelled them and to do that would be to invite a murderer to his home and family..."I mean...I heard you I'm sorry I was just finishing a paragraph. Sorry can't sign it just hurt my hand..." he said thru gritted teeth.

"Alright." Harry said rather nonchalantly. Proving to the Dursley's he had only said it for a bit of fun to see where they still stood. " I'll get Sirius to do it thanks though!" With that he picked up the last bit of cinnamon bun grabbed a napkin on the way out and headed upstairs to do his homework in his room in the middle of the day and with the Dursley's full knowledge.

When Harry got to his room he found a package on his bed and an owl on his window lattice. Harry walked over to the window and handed Hedwig a treat from the bag on his dresser then gave her a pat on the head and sat down on the bed. The package happened to be from Ron and as soon as Harry opened the box a letter fluttered out and fell to Harry's feet he picked it up and recognized the untidy scrawl that was Ron's trademark.
