Candy Hearts

Author's Notes: Here's a quick little drabble I thought off. It may sound a little off season, but I just felt like writing.

Working for the FBI was very exhilarating and you didn't know what to expect each and everyday, but as good as those seem in a career, Naomi Misora just wanted a day to just kick off her heels and relax. She almost took off her heels right there in the hall as she came near to her apartment because they pinched at her feet and she had already worn them for seven hours straight. Her sore feet couldn't endure them much longer.

As she dug in her purse looking for her keys, she noticed a small box by her door. When she opened her door, she picked it up and checked the return address. Her suspicious nature made her examine the box before opening it. The box had come from Godiva, a store dedicated to pricy chocolate treats. It barely hit her that it was Valentine's Day.

Normally, she spent this day with her boyfriend, Raye Penber, but she told him a week prior to wait for the weekend for a date. He felt offended by that, but he let it slide because she had agreed to still celebrate the holiday, even if it was a few days late. Given the circumstances, she thought the box had come from him. He'd once before sent her chocolates from this exact place for Christmas, so why wouldn't he do it again for the most romantic day of the year?

With her keys, she was able to cut the tape and open the box. Inside was another box, but this one looked more formal and elegant. The color of the box was a dark brown color with a gold logo on it. As she pulled out the fancy box out of its packaging, a small white note with typed black letters fell out.

"Happy Valentine's Day," was all it read. She couldn't help but feel confused. Had the box came from Raye, he would have made sure to let her know it had come from him. For Christmas, he wrote a romantic, slightly cheesy love letter with his box of chocolates. The simplicity of this note just didn't have Raye's vibe. Digging deep into her mind, she thought who else would send her candy, but she didn't get along with most of the men in her life. Most of which were her colleagues from the bureau which she hated as much they did her. The only logical explanation was that she had a secret admirer. A small smile grew on her face, but a twinge of fear did strike her. For all she new, this person could be watching her that very moment. She let it go, and opened the box and took out one of the eight candy hearts that it had inside. When biting down into it, strawberry jelly spilled out into her mouth.

Outside in the hall, an awkward looking man slowly walked by her door. He wore a loose fitting white shirt and just as loose jeans. The shoes on his feet were pretty torn up, and they weren't even tied. His jet black hair looked as if a bird lived there, and the dark circles around his eyes were as black as night. Experience had taught him which candy hearts were the best tasting and which would be perfect for the woman he had came to admire. Over the years, he'd eaten hundreds of chocolates from Godiva and he'd remembered each and every one.

"Happy Valentine's Day, Naomi Misora." A whisper came from his mouth as he looked sadly at the heavy red door. He'd been waiting for her for at least an hour, but as much he waited, he left the building promptly. Just one glance of her was good enough for him.

A/N: So there's my first Naomi/L fic. I've eaten Godiva chocolates plenty of times, and after writing this story, I kind on want one now. I know there one of the good places to good chocolate. I remember when I went to a store in Washington D.C there were pieces that were more than a dollar a piece! If you've been to Barnes and Nobles, you can find the four piece boxes for like six dollars.
