Fall
-A poem by Amos
There I was
Sitting alone
In my lonely Brooklyn Mansion
I heard a boom
I look outside
A tower, I see it smoking
I look in awe
Not knowing
Not knowing what else to do
I think I think I think I think
What happened?
I don't know
Maybe it was an accident
Or maybe, perhaps,
It was not
I turn on the TV
And there on the screen It say:
Terrorist attack?
I look outside
and just in time
Because before my very eyes
Another plane,
Yes, another plane
dives into the second tower
OH GOD! I say
WE ARE UNDER ATTACK
and I fall down to my knees
What is next,
the empire state?
I tremble and I wheeze
Then, as if
The attacks weren't enough
I see I see I see...
A tower collapsing
Followed by a cloud of debris
And then the second
Copying the first
Comes D
O
W
N
Like it's sister
I look below my window,
And there are all my neighbors
Staring up in shock
at what used to be twin towers
Some are staring
Mouth and Eyes wide
Some are cursing loud
But most, oh most
Are crying, crying,
crying out in pain.
Soon, the terror wears off
And grief begins to set in
I can't think of how many were lost,
Or I will start crying again.
I do not eat dinner that night
Or on the morning thereafter
I cannot eat
Just cannot eat
When I am in such sorrow.
