Extended Ending to Season 1, ep. 6 – "Murder Between Friends"

Jonathan and Jennifer headed up to bed after their night of bowling with Max and Lieutenant Ernie Doyle. A night out was exactly what they needed to alleviate the stress of Norman Bensinger's murder and arrest of his wife, Myra. Both Jonathan and Jennifer were relieved, however, that their other friends, Mike and Gail were innocent. A double date was planned for the near future.

Jennifer finished rubbing lotion on her hands and slid into bed next to her husband. She propped herself on one elbow and looked down at his resting form.

"Darling…" Jonathan gave a slight nod.

"Um, hm?"

"Something that Myra said got me to thinking." Jonathan opened his eyes and focused on his wife. The tone of her question told him she had something important on her mind.

"About what?" Jennifer's fingers were tracing patterns on Jonathan's chest, so he honed in on her eyes rather than her touch.

"It isn't any secret that Norman had several affairs. Myra told us that Norman was a powerful man, and women found him attractive. It seems like a lot of our friends end up in broken relationships due to affairs." He stopped her there.

"Jennifer, it won't happen to us." He took her hand and kissed her fingers. She looked at him pointedly.

"I'm sure Myra thought it wouldn't happen to her and Norman either." Jonathan started to shake his head, but she kept going. "Jonathan, you are a man who attracts the attention of a lot of women. You're handsome, wealthy, and kind. I know that you would never seek out the attention of someone else, but if enough women throw themselves at you, well…" He kissed her to stop that thought.

"Darling, you already said it. I'm not looking for anyone else. I already found the perfect woman for me." She gave him a little kiss. "Besides, you're forgetting the other side of this equation."

"What do you mean?" He loved how unaware she was of her own effect on men.

"Do you have any idea how many men in this world are in love with you?" She laughed.

"Jonathan, be serious."

"I am. Jennifer, all those things you just said about me apply to you too. Every time we're out together, you turn men's heads." He watched her until her eyes met his again. "Darling, you're gorgeous, you're confident, your smile lights up a room, and men can't help themselves. They just fall head over heels for you." She laughed a bit, embarrassed at the compliments. She found her husband staring at her when she looked at him again.

"What?"

"I find it extremely sexy that my very confident wife gets embarrassed when I compliment her."

"I think you're a little biased."

"You don't blush when other men tell you look beautiful." She rolled her eyes to the left and looked back at her husband.

"It's polite to say thank you when someone says something nice to you. Besides, you usually have that look in your eye when you tell me I'm beautiful." He smiled slowly at her.

"What look is that?" Her stomach turned over and she smiled back at him.

"The one you've got now. The one that made us late to the Bensinger's in the first place." She laughed as he attacked her neck. Suddenly, he pulled back.

He ran his thumb over her cheek and held her eyes with a serious gaze. "Jennifer, if anything between us ever changes, I'll talk to you first, not turn to another woman," He ran his lips passionately over hers, "but I can promise you that I will never want any woman the way I want you. I love you, and only you."

She leaned down and placed a gentle kiss on his lips. "You always say exactly the right thing." She kissed him again. "I love you too." Jonathan caught her in another passionate kiss.

"Prove it." Jennifer wanted to laugh as Jonathan reached over and switched off the light, but she was too busy melting into her husband's embrace.
