"What about this one?" He looked up to see his beautiful wife staring into the puppy cages, she was catching the dark brown eyes of a small Yorkie. Kili made his way over and stared inside the small dogs' cage. "Well, he's cute."
Tauriel nodded in agreement before looking around at all the other animals. "There's so many." She looked sad.
"Yeah, but someone will adopt them eventually."
Tauriel didn't look conviced. Ever since he met her Tauriel was always an animal and nature lover. She had even nursed a few hurt animals from the park back to health, even resulting in her keeping a baby duckingly that was now fully grown.
"If only there was a way to. . . " She sighed then shook her head.
"What?" Kili asked, lovingly interested.
"It's silly." She whispered.
Kili tilted his head and only stared at her. Tauriel smiled kindly. "Remember my grandparents left me a farm, and I have no reason to use it. . . Yet" She pointed out.
Kili's mouth made an O shape and he nodded in understanding. "You said you never wanted to move there." He said smiling.
Tauriel only shrugged and turned back to the Yorkie. "Maybe I changed my mind."
Kili smiled more at his wifes' childlike response. Even now, she seemed the most beautiful woman in the whole world. With her hazel, doe eyes, pale pink lips, and her soft skin. Kili reached out and grabbed Tauriel's hand in his.
"Do you think they'll let us adopt them all?"
Tauriel turned to him, stared at him for a long moment before a huge smiled plastered her lips.
XOXOXOXO
Which was why it was now one year later and the couple were living in a house full of 15 cats, 13 dogs, and two parrots who squaked and blew kisses everytime Tauriel walked in the room. She always blew kisses back off course. She always fed the animals before herself or her husband, but Kili didn't mind. He loved seeing the smile on Tauriel's face in the morning when the dogs would scratch at their door.
But no matter what she did, where she put the animals in the house, there was always one she kept with her at all times.
Her small Yorkie, Mistletoe.
The small dog barely ever grew, she stood just the same as the day Tauriel first saw her. The Yorkie always had two colorful bowties in her fur, different colors for different days of the week, and even had costumes for the holidays. The dog was spoiled, but that didn't mean Tauriel loved the others any less. So, this was how the couple led their lives together, with a small farm, big enough for their animal family.
"Kili, sweetheart?"
"Hm?" The man was so tired because he came home from work to help one of the dogs have 6 puppies, so he was laying in bed with his face in the pillow.
Tauriel gently leaned over so her cheek was against her husbands'. "I'm pregnant."
Kili's eyes snapped open.
