This is separate from my Super Smash Bros. Ultimate series, but welcome home, Banjo, we've missed you.

Banjo knocked on the door, holding an envelope in his hand, and Kazooie said, "You excited, Banjo? We're gonna be able to ground some clowns and bust some heads!"

Banjo replied, "But what if they don't recognize us, Kazooie?"

Kazooie had no answer to that, and with bated breath, the two of them waited for someone to open the door.

After a bit, the door opened, and Donkey Kong showed up, tiredly yawning out, "Oh hey, Banjo. What're you doing here?" Doing a double take, he exclaimed, "Wait, BANJO?!"

Banjo nervously waved, saying, "Hey, DK. Is Diddy here?"

Donkey Kong pulled Banjo into a bone-crushing hug, and Kazooie, from Banjo's backpack, groaned out, "Can't... breathe..." DK let go, before calling for his nephew to come see the new arrival.

Diddy Kong walked to where his uncle was, and upon seeing Banjo, he rubbed his eyes, wondering if they were playing tricks on him. When his vision came back into focus, Diddy screamed in joy before running over to hug Banjo, who reciprocated in kind. Grabbing Banjo's hand, he dragged him into the Mansion, much to Kazooie's indignation, while Donkey Kong could only smile in amusement as he saw Diddy Kong drag him into the main hall while simultaneously hiding him behind a curtain, where everyone was buzzing over the other recent arrivals, those being a group of heroes who were accompanied by some Slimes.

As Diddy Kong walked in, he yelled, "You guys won't believe who just came back!"

Murmurs of confusion rang among the others, as every single veteran had returned for the fifth Super Smash Bros. tournament, thus the idea of someone returning was not on their minds. Pulling away the curtain he had covered Banjo with, he stepped aside and watched as veteran and newcomer alike turned to stare at the bear-and-bird duo, the tales of their adventures being the stuff of legend in the Mansion, remembered by only those who had known them before a dimensional rift had cut the Isle O' Hags off from the Mushroom World many years ago. Banjo and Kazooie themselves were looking throughout the crowd, scanning for anyone they could recognize. Looking behind him, he saw the two Kongs give him a thumbs-up, and Banjo smiled in gratitude.

Confidently pulling out their respective signature instruments, the duo then played a little ditty on them before triumphantly exclaiming, "We're back!"

Mario, his various acquaintances, and King K. Rool burst out into tremendous cheers and applause before running up to the two of them and lifting them up onto their shoulders. Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong followed suit, and they began parading Banjo throughout the hall for the others to see. Looking down, he saw the Kongs and, surprisingly, King K. Rool flash a thumbs-up at him and Kazooie, and, brimming with excitement, Banjo let the moment sink in as Mario and his friends carried him throughout the room.

At last, he and Kazooie had come back home.

I won't lie, Banjo's reveal was one hell of an emotional moment for me.

Also, big thanks to Microsoft, Nintendo, and Rare Ltd. for making dreams cone true.
