AN: Ok, so I do NOT own any of the characters….the brilliant Gaston Leroux owns the Phantom and some other characters (Christine, Raoul…). By the way, I will be changing some thins about it all, the Phantom will have a name (unlike in the play and different than "Erik" from the book), and will have some new ideas and what not to this. Trying to make a continuation. Will see how it goes. Wish me luck! Gros Bisous! Hehe!
The Opéra Populaire was up in flames as Christine and her beau, Raoul, were leaving the Phantom's lair down in the Catacombs under the building. The distraught and heart broken Phantom fled deeper down into his lair, hiding forever from the mob that was coming down to kill him. He had smashed all the mirrors in site, so he would not have to live to see his disfigured face once more. After he went down into a tunnel, he had left his white mask behind. After he was gone, Meg had made it to his lair. She looked around and the Phantom was no where to be seen. The candle burnt in the dark place, but no one was to be seen. The men in the mob had soon waited through the water with torches in their hands, and had seen Meg holding the mask. They looked up at her in awe, not sure what to think. Was he dead? Had Raoul killed him? Or did he just go into hiding? Either or, he was no where to be seen. The lair was emptied of souls. Just the candles burnt in the lonely darkness with the organ on the slight edge. The Phantom's lair was cold and damp. Meg had wondered how anyone could live down here for so long. No sunlight, no warmth, not even the company of anyone. All he had was the music that was played from up above, but could he even hear it from being so far down from the stage. One would never know. Maybe the sound had carried itself down to him…
Crash! went the ceiling. It was collapsing from the heat of the fire above. The rock was crumbling and falling into the water below. The men doubled over trying to cover their heads. A large piece of rock fell behind Meg and she quickly fled out of the lair, with the mask in her hand. Then men had followed suit. As they ran out, the ceiling had fallen in. The waves of the water rose violently and the noise of the falling rocks was unbearable. The Catacombs were lost forever in the ancient ruble…

Years had passed, and the Opéra Populaire's disaster was soon told as a legend and then became a myth. People told it as a ghost story to their children and family when the subject would arise. The Opera Ghost haunted the theatre for years and caused havoc for the patrons and actors. Though not long before the disastrous fire and the crashing of the crystal chandelier, it was told that the Opera Ghost became so blood thirsty and crazed that his small pranks were not good enough. He had taken a few lives. In once incident during a play, it had hung a stage man and dropped his body from the high rafters of the stage. The crowd was utterly shocked and disturbed. Something horrific was making its presence known at the theatre.
Other tales of the Opera Ghost had said that he had fell in love with a beautiful actress, Christine Daae, and only wanted her for his self. But when the last patron of Opéra Populaire was pursuing the young actress, the Ghost had become so jealous that it had abducted her to his lair. Some people do not believe in this tale, because Miss Daae had married this patron, the Vicompte de Chagney and neither had said a thing. They denied all the rumours that flew about and lived on with their lives. But no one knew of the real story…only the happy couple. The Opera Ghost was indeed real, but Christine had silently vowed to keep it all a secret.
The young man who had lived in the Catacombs had lived there all his life and only knew that. His face was disfigured and to be kept safe from the world's cruelties of society, he had hid under the theatre all his life. When Christine was brought to the theatre after her father had died, in the shadows of the night he would coach the young girl on how the sing. The Phantom was a genius in the arts: singing, composing, stage design…he was more than a triple threat. The years had progressed and Christine was growing up to be a beautiful young woman, and soon the Phantom desired to have her all to him self.
When Christine had her first staring role, the Phantom had came out of hiding finally and showed him self to the young woman. He had taken her to his dark home and showed her his life. Unfortunately, things went terribly wrong after. Driven by jealousy the Phantom did everything in his power to take Christine. But her love for Raoul de Chagney, over weighed it all. The Phantom had realized that he could never fully have and keep her, so he let the couple go. Before she went, Christine had given the Phantom her engagement ring from Raoul. Showing she cared for him and wanted to remember her kindess towards him. From then on, she and Raoul had kept it all a secret, to keep the Phantom from the real world. He had only become a ghost in the past.

Years of hiding, the Phantom had stayed under the rubble of the theatre. Day in and day out he traveled along the water ways under the city, trying to make a new home. The world was unjust to him and he did not want to let the people above ground hurt him again. The day Christine had left, his heart was torn viciously out of his chest. The only woman he cared about did not feel the same way for him and chose a gentleman who was far more handsome than he was. It hurt…He had gave her his music, his sweet music that he had pours all his sweat, blood, and tears into, just for her. And then she denied his love for her and chose another. How? ...Though before Christine had left him, she gave him a ring to remember her by. He treasured if with all his being and kept it close to him at all times. He ran his fingers through his thin hair and sighed. If she have had only stayed. They were an awesome duo and could have gone far together. But she gave it all up.
AN: Ok so here is a start...if anyone has some ideas or sugestions that would be great. I have an idea where I wann go but to do so...Little more tricky. Please review!
