Middle School Students Solve Mystery

August, 29, 1975

Move over Sherlock it seems that some amateur sleuths have done it. Four Central Middle Schools students have figured out who was vandalizing the local park. This past August local citizens have see a torn up baseball field, the nature trail with cut down trees, and the dog park driven through by golf carts. Eighth graders Daphne Blake, Velma Dinkley, Fred Jones, and Norville "Shaggy" Rogers have took on the mystery personally. "It all started out when the dog park was hit first," said Rogers, who had a beloved pet Scooby Doo, that he would take to the dog park with his friend Miss Blake. Each student had a personal reason that seemed to connect them to the park.

"I play baseball in the park," said Jones who called it personal when the bases were stolen and the pitchers mound dug up. Miss Dinkley saw it was her turn to do something when the nature trail had trees cut down in the paved path. The police has been putting off the vandalism due to stolen goods at the local mall. The police applaud the children for their work to solve the mystery and to keep the community safe. "It's great to see the kids take an active part of keeping the park safe," said police chief Casey Rogers, the young Rogers father.

The vandals have confessed to saying that they had done it for a good reason. The Coolsville Times had reported that last spring that the mayor was going to install a new strip mall in place of the park when it started to fall out of use. Of course after the building of the new park on the other side of town, but no plans had yet been announced. The vandals Red Herring and fellow friends have tried to drive out locals so their father's had a job. All six have made a public apology and will be doing community service fixing what they have done. "I'm really sorry that I did it," said Neville Williams.

Blake, Dinkley, Jones, and Rogers have been rewarded with a medal of honor for their services. A special medal was given to the dog Scooby Doo for sniffing out the culprits. "It was a team effort and we all played a big part in it," said Blake the only daughter of local millionaire Ned Blake. Through the process it seems that all have them have grown to be close friends with each other and will be entering Central High School in September. "It all started with our love for the park and a dog named Scooby Doo!" said Dinkley.
