Small Words

Disclaimer: I don't own anything I write down. That includes the characters of CSI: NY.

A/N: This is just a real short drabble to be honest. Just sortta like a flow of Stella's thought and some narration towards it. Enjoy --

She'd read his note. Pain was written down on a page that flew across the globe to fall into the hands on someone who had suffered more than he needed to his whole life.

Music

Her first thought. The thing he would retire to on cold Wednesday evenings when there was nothing better. Cozy's, was what it was called; his little home of salvation that was needed at a time like this.

She ran. She ran in and there he was. Sitting lonely and all by him self in the corner. Bass on his lap tuning into the songs that filled the room.

Jazz

His home. Since she left it was all he had. The melody was beautiful. Simplicity was his nature. She sat down at an empty table. Listening, intensely, waiting for that moment of glory when he would look up and see her.

And he did

Eyes locking, hearts beating. He knew she knew. She'd left him and now here she was to pick up the pieces.

Long lost love

A home for the heart in a small jazz café just off Broadway. His home, his salvation and she knew that it would never be enough to mend his broken heart.

The scar.

One he carried with him all the time. A wound made by his long lost lover and the countless battles he'd found for things he believed in.

Come home?

But he wouldn't. Not to her place, because they were too close. Friends they were, lovers was one step beyond their friendship.

But he loved her. As much as he'd loved the only woman for him.
